Seriously, do these books just sneak into the house on their own? It seems that I have no control when finding books for a dollar or less. Bad books! Why do you insist on following me home? Don’t you know that I have hundreds of other books patiently waiting to be read?

I’m positive, there are others hiding somewhere. On a different note, y Bookmarks magazine also arrived in my home a couple of weeks ago. Normally, I add quite a few books on my TBR, but this time around I only starred two books. I guess nothing caught my eye this time around. Iodine by Haven Kimmel, due out in September, (I have A Girl Named Zippy in my own library, but haven’t read it yet) sounded interesting. The other is The Plague of Doves by Louise Erdrich, an author I’m not familiar with but seems pretty prolific. Not much, perhaps I’ll have better luck next time around.

What books followed you home this month?

Ahhh . . . my Bookmarks magazine came a couple of days ago. I love browsing through and finding new books to add to my endless TBR list. And I thought I would give a shout out to Imani (aka A. White in the magazine) at The Book of My Numberless Dreams whose book list of her ten favorite books graced the pages. I’m adding Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie from her list to my TBR list. I’ve been wanting to read this for a while but I may have to bump it up.

Other books that caught my eye:

Women of the Silk by Gail Tsukiyama
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
The Lost Children of Wilder: The Epic Struggle to Change Foster Care by Nina Bernstein
The Flowers by Dagoberto Gilb

Has anybody read any of these? Thoughts? Recommendations?

The other new arrival in the mail today is What is the What by Dave Eggars, which I committed to purchase. I read this book from the library but after finding out that 100% of the proceeds from the book go the the Valentino Achack Deng Foundation for lost boys from Sudan, I said that I was going to buy it. And buy it I did. I’m really excited to add this one to my library and this is the book that I think EVERYBODY should read. Read my review here. So excited about this one.

I’m reading books faster than I can get the reviews up for them. I’ve recently been on a Young Adult/Juvenile Fiction kick so have gotten through quite a few. But now I’m back to Adult Fiction for my next few books.

I am at a constant dilemma on days like today where my nine month old and 2 year old boys are both sleeping at the same time. Bliss!! Do I relax and read? Take a nap? Do the dishes? Do the laundry? Sweep the mess off the kitchen floor from lunch? Write book reviews? What do I do? What do I do?

Well, today I have spent the last hour perusing my Bookmarks magazine. I had several back issues to get through. And then I spent a good while discovering even more book blogs so I can constantly keep updated on what’s going on “out there.” Since last night I have added approximately 40 more books to my to be read list. These books have come from my Bookmarks magazine, book blogs, and my own bookshelf. I think if I actually commit a book on my bookshelf to the “list” it might get read. I am buying more books than I can keep up with. I haven’t updated my library collection for at least a good two months and probably have another 40 books to add to it. And then I wanted to go through and highlight the books I’ve actually read. One more thing to add to my to do list. I would love to actually read the books that I own, but lately I’ve been getting so many great book recommendations that I’ve maxed out my holds at the library!

Oh my, I actually hope I can finish this one post for the boys wake up. I’m pushing it at the moment. If the baby starts to cry, I’ll just have to hit publish and call it a day! Watch for these upcoming reviews:

Feathers by Jacqueline Woodson
Penny From Heaven by Jennifer L. Holm
Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson
