I do ask that you ignore the one part where I rambled incoherently and couldn’t think what my line of thought was. I kept giving my two-year-old sucker after sucker in an attempt to keep him quiet during the show. After four suckers, I think he died and went to heaven.

Many of the topics discussed included:

What constitutes a quality book review

Should book reviews be paid for? (and thoughts on FTC ruling about product reviews and it’s affect on the reviewing industry

How important are reviews?

What is the impact on book sales and credibility of interviews by Oprah, NPR, NY Times, Publisher’s Weekly etc.

Thoughts on Kirkus and the future of book review sites/magazines/outlets

What effect has blogging had on book reviews and their value?

What about social media and it’s influence?

Thoughts on e-formatted books as review copies?

How can authors and publisher’s best spend their marketing dollars?

Has anybody reviewed a vook.

How important is the interviewer when interviewing an author?

What does a publisher look for in book blogs?

Effectiveness of book blog tours.

How should authors and publishers approach bloggers?

Do you consider the mass pitch approach for a book spam?

How do authors balance their time on social media, writing, & life?

How do you increase your “review footprint” and boost your credibility as a reviewer and media outlet for books?

I’m not planning on listening to the recording because I don’t want to listen to my voice (Really? I sound like what?) and start second-guessing myself (Why did I answer that question like that?!). But you could listen:

And by the way, Nicole is an awesome host and I now realize that I had nothing to be scared about. This morning the local news station is coming to my house to tape a segment about blogging! Wish me luck!! That I will need.

Tonight, it’s my turn! Tune in at 9pm EST.

I have no idea what Nicole has planned to talk about, so we shall be in for a surprise. That girl can dig through people’s archives like nothing else.

You can listen live or to the archived version later. If you listen live, make sure you register so you can join in the conversation in the chat room. That’s where half of the action takes place. If you have any questions or comments, you can send them to: nicole AT linussblanket DOT com before the show, ask in the chat room or call 646-381-4606 to ask yourself. The player can also be found in my sidebar. So, I guess you could just come here too.

At the end of the show, stick around for the “Twenty Minute Book Club.” For the last twenty minutes we will be discussing the book War Child by Emmanuel Jal. I know there are a few of you that read the book, so call in! But if you were unable to read the book, don’t bail out on the discussion! It’s a type of book where spoilers don’t matter and Emmanuel Jal’s life is SO fascinating that I just want everybody to know about him and his cause.

Homework? Yes! To prep yourself, check out my book review of War Child where there are several great videos about Jal (watching these would really beneficial for the book chat!), listen to his album War Child (it’s in my player right now) or watch the documentary about his life.

Let’s hope my cell phone gets good reception tonight. Usually, nobody can hear me.

You can listen live or to the archived version later when you have a few minutes.

At the end of the show, stick around for the “Twenty Minute Book Club.” For the last twenty minutes we will be discusing the book War Child by Emmanuel Jal. Now, I tell you this in advance before the show because I REALLY want you to read the book. So go find it right now!

BUT if you don’t manage to read it before the show I still want you to stick around to discuss it. It’s a type of book where spoilers don’t matter and Emmanuel Jal’s life is SO fascinating that I just want everybody to know about him and his cause. I would be disappointed if you bailed on the discussion. To prep yourself, check out my book review of War Child where there are several great videos about Jal, listen to his album War Child (it’s in my player right now) or watch the documentary about his life.

So what are you doing Tuesday, January 19th?

That’s what I thought . . . .

This was the first time I’ve participated as a panelist on a call-in show and I’m thrilled to have been asked to do so. I had no idea what to expect and topics were all over the place. Funny enough, my book club was meeting just a half hour into the show so I was in the car and then sitting outside our host’s house (Sharon who blogs at SherMeres’s Musings) while finishing up. Cari from Book Scoops had a fun time listening in while she was driving. What can I say, I didn’t want to miss book club because I love it so much!

I’m almost scared to listen to it because my voice never sounds like how I think it is. And hopefully, I didn’t say anything that when I re-listen to it will make me think – what in the world was I thinking! And no wonder everybody tells me they can never hear me on my phone. Now I can hear my terrible connection.

I had fun! Did you listen in? If not, you can listen now, just hit the play button above (or Blog Talk Radio if it doesn’t load). Any other questions? Thoughts?
