• Ali from Worducopia.  Ali is so much fun!  She’s hosting the Diversity Rocks Challenge which I’m really, really regretting not joining.  Ali seems to review a bit of everything.  Graphic novels, literary fiction, young adult and more.  Ali’s going to do the read-a-thon for the first year this time too.  I’m glad I won’t be the only newbie!

• Suey from It’s All About Books.  If you’re not friends with Suey, you are missing out.  I was bummed when she wasn’t able to come to the Laurie Halse Anderson signing.  I totally missed her.  Suey and I have met on more than one occasion and she’s just as nice in real life as she is on her blog.  Lately, Suey has been reading tons on young adult books.  But who can blame her?  They’re really good!  Suey and Raidergirl3 from An Adventure in Reading are also the brains behind the Bookword Game.  And if you’re a Josh Groban fan?  Say no more.  You have a new best friend.

• Chartoose from Bloody Hell, It’s a Book Barrage! I remember the very first time I stumbled upon Chartoose’s blog because I turned to my husband and said check out the name of this blog!  I knew immediately how irreverent and fun she would be.  I must admit she probably doesn’t think that I read her blog that often because I’m terrible at commenting, but I do.  And you should too.

• Jackie from Farm Lane Books.  I somehow missed having Jackie’s blog in my reader.  I seriously do not know how that happened.  That situation is now rectified.  Sorry!  Jackie reviews mostly literary fiction and is trying to make it through a bunch of prize lists like the Orange, Booker, and Pulitzer.  Thinking about it just makes my head hurt.

• Marg from Reading Adventures.  I wish I could read as much as Marg.  She read 17 books this past month.  Marg reads a lot of historical fiction and also blogs at the Historical Tapestry blog, as well as romance, mysteries, and young adult fiction.  In addition to all the challenges that she does, Marg also finds the time to make beautiful cards as well.  Marg has been blogging since 2005.  That sure makes me feel like the new kid on the block!

• Em from Em’s Bookshelf.  Em reviews young adult books.  If you’re looking for a recommendation, head on over there.  She’ll have one.  I had to laugh.  Em is taking on Maureen Johnson’s challenge to blog every day in April.  And she’s going to buy herself peanut M&M’s if she does.  Made me realize that I need to slow down!  I think I’ll buy myself something if I DON’T blog every day in April.  I wonder what would happen if I skipped a day?  Wait.  Nothing.  Brilliant!   Why didn’t I think of this before?

Thanks everybody for stopping by!  I wish I could highlight you all.  I was going to try to go for ten spotlights this month but my boys who are supposedly “napping” just found a bottle of spray suntan lotion and sprayed it all over their walls.  Welcome to my life.

A feature that I do monthly I’d like to take the time to share with you a few other bloggers that stopped by this month and I think you should stop by theirs as well!

• Monica from The Book Retreat.  Last month I spotlighted my friend, neighbor, and fellow book clubber Monica. But then I discovered that she secretly started a book blog to record her thoughts on books she read and she didn’t tell anybody about it.  So I’m going to tell all of you about it!  Shhh . . . go surprise her!

• KT from What KT Reads.  Like me KT reviews a wide range of books including picture books, middle readers, young adult, fiction and non-fiction.  I loved her recent review of Wuthering Heights which was a simple five words: selfish brats end up dead.  She’s reviewed a lot of great books that I enjoyed as well.

• Steve from Book Dads: Fathers That Read.   Steve’s blog is fantastic!  Described as “Book reviews for fathers who read. A site for fathers, or anyone who wants to read with their children and are looking for books with positive representations of fatherhood . . . Reading together is one of the most important things a parent can do for a child, and a strong legacy from both of our families.  But more often than not, we found ourselves reading books to our son that always talked about moms but rarely mentioned dads.  Book Dads grew out of our search for books to share with our son that emphasized fathers and the importance of fatherhood in children’s lives.  If you’re a father who cares about reading with your children – no matter how you’re parenting – then Book Dads is for you.”  Enough said.  Get yourself over there!

• Chris from Stuff As Dreams Are Made On.  Chris describes himself and his blog as “A guy from New Orleans examines all things Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Magical, Musical, Visual, and Appealing along with interesting tidbits from everyday life.”  I always enjoy his posts and book reviews.

• Rebecca from Rebecca Reads.  Rebecca’s is always one of the first blogs I read in my reader.  Like me she’s a stay at home mom and has a little one.  She recently just moved back to the States after living in Australia.  Rebecca’s reviews fiction, non-fiction and children’s books.  She reads a lot of classics and  is also reading her way through the Caldacotts.

• Janssen from Everyday Reads.  Janssen lives in Austin, Texas.  Same town as my parents.  Little does she know, but if I manage to visit my parents anytime in the near future, I’m going to stalk her down.  If you’ve been reading her blog for any time now, you know that she just seems like a really fun person to hang out with.  Janssen is getting her MLS (is that what they call it) with an emphasis in Children and Youth Services.  Janssen’s blog is fun randomness and book reviews.

• Latayne C Scott  from Novel Matters. What a beautiful blog.  Go over there and see what I mean.  Nice.  Novel Matters is a collective blog from seven published fiction novels who talk about reading, books and their path to publication.  They are fairly new and are off to an amazing start!

So I’ve come up with something new!  At the end of each month, instead of listing a large blogroll, I will randomly select anywhere from 5-10 bloggers or commenters (because they might not necessarily have a blog) and give a little link love and spotlight back.  I think this will be more worth your time and mine so much better.  I just want to give a little something back and to learn new things as well.

So let’s begin.

• Amy at Hope is the Word. Amy has a great blog where she reviews books and chronicles the life of the the bookish.  Amy is a stay at home mom of two preschoolers and a part time English instructor.  Amy reads a variety of books including not only the 75 books she read aloud with her girls in January but a balance of fiction and non-fiction.  Go over there and encourage her as she attempts to read Les Miserables before March and she’s going to participate in an interview with Kirby Larson, author of Hattie Big Sky this next month.  I interviewed Kirby this past year and she is wonderful!

• Tina Ann Forkner, author of Ruby Among Us.  Tina left a comment on one of my book reviews and I had to give a shout out because Tina will be here next week with an interview while I review Ruby Among Us. I always enjoy it when authors stop by.

• Monica from Moniblog. Monica is a woman of many interests.  A vegetarian cook, a knitter, web designer and of course a reader.   She recently reviewed X in Flight which I had checked out at one point from the library last year for a challenge, but returned before I could finish.

• And how about another Monica?  Monica Taylor is literally my neighbor and we are in a book club together.  She truly is the life of the party.  Monica is awesome and loves to read just about anything she can get her hands on.  I think very few, if any, of my in real life friends read my blog, much less comment on it, so thank you Monica!

• Darlene from Peeking Between the Pages.  Darlene has a fun blog and is always hosting a giveaway or two.  She also loves to knit and crochet (at the moment I’m feeling like the last one in bloggy land to not do this).  She recently said, “Reading brings people together with a common bond of books. What could be more inspiring than that?”

• Lenore from Presenting Lenore.  Lenore is a advertising copywriter in Germany and just recently wrote a great article about frequently asked questions for new book bloggers.  Lenore reads a large variety of books from middle grade fiction to literary fiction and more.  And she’s already reviewed Wintergirls.  Sooooo jealous.

• Lisa from Books Lists Life. Lisa has not only a great book blog but a great new quilting/sewing blog.  and is about to open a etsy shop so you can get your hands on it all.  Lisa is an amazing reader and her posts are always great.  Like me, she also has two small boys so I can relate to the days when she wants to pull her hair out.  And our boys have the same pajamas.  What can I say.  We’ve got great taste.

And on another note, Trish from Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin? gave me the BFF Gold Card (Blogging Friends Forever – I finally saw the small print). MY FIRST AWARD!! You are too kind. To quote Trish “First of all, when I started blogging and I was just a fledgling, I saw all kinds of awards being given back and forth and I longed for the day when I would get one of those awards, when I would be part of the group.” My feelings exactly! But I have to admit when I discovered the community of book bloggers, I remember telling my husband, “It’s so odd, they actually give each other awards!” I didn’t think that I would care, but I have to admit that my heart went thump, thump when I saw I received one! And I’m happy every time I think about it. So thanks Trish!

Now, this is really hard for me. Who do I pass this on to? I’ve meet so many wonderful bloggers. I don’t want to leave anybody I really love out. To hard! Okay, there’s no easy way to do this, so I will pass this on to everybody who is a Top Ten Commentator (see my left sidebar) and right back to Trish! For some reason, they just keep coming back again and again, so that deserves a gold star (I mean card) in my book! Thanks!
