Watch for a whole slew of Cybils book reviews this next month!  If I was more on top of it, I would have had them beforehand.  But this month is crazy!  My Children’s Literature Book Club is meeting this month to discuss the books nominated in the picture book s and graphic novels!  That’s a lot of books.  I’ve already read most of them.  Some I’ll review, others I won’t.

I have The Hunger Games literally on my bookshelf, right next to me.  I was planning on reading it this week. The same goes for Emiko Superstar.  I’ve reviewed The Graveyard Book, The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks, and Rapunzel’s Revenge.  I seriously have a draft of How to Heal a Broken Wing which isn’t ready to publish.  I was going to save it for March.  I was also saving Nic Bishops Frogs for next month too, but that draft is already finished and waiting.  So I’ll go ahead and publish it right now.

So what do I think?  I guessed The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks correctly.  I haven’t read the other Printz, although I have Jellicoe Road checked out right now from the library.  A few surprises about the Newbery.  Not surprised at all for Savvy and The Underneath, both of which I reviewed.  I have The Graveyard Book checked out right now from the library.  I guess I better read it – my first Neil Gaiman book.  I love Jacqueline Woodson, but haven’t read After Tupac and D. Foster.    As far as Caldecott, I haven’t followed new picture books that much this year but I LOVe Marla Frazee.  So happy for her.
