This sounds fantastic! I *THINK* Catherine Marshall’s Julie is about this same flood, and it was one of my favorite books as a teen. I’m adding this one to my TBR list!

I loved Hesse’s book like this — was it Out of the Dust or something like that? And Creech’s Hate that Cat. This will be in good company with other favorite.
