Not Your Ordinary Trip to the Library
Why, yes, that’s a hissing cockroach. And yes, my four-year-old is holding it.
Kudos to fantastic library programs!
(I think.)
Hey you! Yes. You! I've noticed that you've stopped by to visit a few times! But I don't know who you are. Why don't you take a moment and introduce yourself. Don't be scared. I try not to bite. I know you're a lurker but I'd love to hear your thoughts about what's been bringing you here. And if you haven't done so already, don't forget to never miss a post by subscribing to my feed or receiving updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

That’s awesome.

on September 12th, 2010 at 9:43 pmOh I can not hold such creatures
on September 12th, 2010 at 10:14 pmHe’s braver than I am! Kudos to you for not freaking out!
on September 13th, 2010 at 5:55 amHi! I’m kind of new to your blog, I know I follow you on Twitter! Last summer I took my nephews to their library and we saw monarch butterfly cocoons. I had never seen them before and they are absolutely beautiful. It was a very cool experience, we checked out the cocoons and then had to go home and learn more about how they change and how long it takes and where they fly to. It was awesome.
on September 13th, 2010 at 7:12 amAlthough your son is adorable, this picture made my heart stop dead in my chest. But yes, must be some library program!!
on September 13th, 2010 at 7:21 amUm wow. At least he didn’t take it home with you guys..right? I mean it did go back into some bucket or cage at the library?!!!
on September 13th, 2010 at 8:11 amOMGoodness! I wouldn’t even have stood there and took the photo! He is really very brave!!
on September 13th, 2010 at 9:10 amYuck!! Nobody tried to eat it, right? Yuck!!!
I can’t say that I would have spent much time at the library that day
on September 13th, 2010 at 11:05 amLove it! And he looks pretty thrilled about it too….
on September 13th, 2010 at 11:13 amWhat a great program! My oldest would get a thrill out of something like that. My youngest would do an about-face and make a run for it!
We recently discovered our library’s weekened programs and have become quite addicted to them! Since I work & the boys go to school, it’s hard to make a trip to the library during the week. I’m so happy they’ve started having weekend activities!
on September 13th, 2010 at 1:34 pmI saw your tweet and I thought “hmm did she review Metamorphosis too?” I just finished reading it…..Imagine a six foot cockroach.
Yuck… I’m not sure I’d be happy about that library program. But then, as long as I don’t have to touch it….
on September 13th, 2010 at 4:02 pmBLAH. After living in New York and now Las Vegas (where there’s actually a lot more cockroaches) I shiver. Gross.
on September 13th, 2010 at 5:32 pmLove this!
I could hold it – until it moved…. then it would have been flung across the room, simultaneously with my screaming.
on September 13th, 2010 at 10:12 pmA very brave little boy!
When I was a kid we didn’t have hissing cockroaches. We did water bugs.Ger
on September 13th, 2010 at 10:41 pmOur library had a few of those last summer, but my daughter did not like them at all. This year they had hermit crabs, and the crab tank was the very first spot my daughter visited at the library each time we went this summer. I agree. Hooray for those library adventures!
on September 14th, 2010 at 8:29 amHe’s one brave boy! Yikes, I’m freaked out just thinking about holding it. LOL
