Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-Thon Update #1 (And it Begins!)

readathoon

I’m reading today in Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon with more than 350 other readers!  I was unable to participate in the fall, so I’ve been eager to get started!  I find myself with a partner this time!  Taylor, my husband, will be joining me as we struggle to also keep the kids occupied.  I plan on writing a blog post to update our progress another four times throughout the day.  Stop by say hello and give a cheer or two!  (And to see if I’m still awake  at five in the morning. )

My reading options:

A good mix of short books, long books, short stories, review copies, library books, and books pulled off of my shelf.   Oh, and hey, check out my Twitter profile for the play-by-play.

The Stats

  • Book Currently Reading: Hmm . . .  I’m thinking I’ll start with one of the REALLY short books. (I prescheduled this post, so let’s hope I’m even awake reading a book.)
  • Reading for a Cure – We will be donating a set dollar amount for each page read during the Read-a-thon to the Huntsman’s Cancer Foundation in conjunction with Wendy at Caribousmon Reading for a Cure challenge.

The Husband (aka Taylor)

I’m excited for my first read-a-thon. So many yummy books and delicious treats to choose from. I will probably only get through on or two books.  But I will eat all the treats.  They are both research for my novel.  All good books have good food in them.  In preparation for the read-a-thon I have been playing Prince of Persia and eating nutella to sharpen my mind. I will start off with Arkham Asylum since it is short and has lots of pretty pictures.

  • Book Currently Reading: Arkham Asylum

  9. Traditional read-a-thon blessing:

    May the bookshelf be there to greet you.
    May all the books appeal.
    May the fridge be full of tasty snacks;
    the words fall soft upon your eyes and until the read-a-thon ends,
    may you always hold a book in the palm of your hand.

    Good luck today!

  15. Keep up the good work Natasha and Taylor! Natasha, you’re lucky to have Taylor participating with you – I’d give almost anything to have the Man pick up a book rather than pulling on my pantleg like a child asking me to play with him because he’s bored and there is nothing good on TV! Looking forward to hearing what you both have to say about such awesome books!
