When I’m Not Reading . . .

. . . we are painting.

Which to tell you the truth is an activity that I don’t do lightly as it ends up being a huge ordeal (as you can see from painted child #1 above).

But the results are always worth it! Now I have my own bouquet of tulips made from egg cartons.  Every mother’s dream.

And although spring is NOT in the air (as evidenced from our current weather as seen below) . . .

. . . we have been making spring crafts.

But what do the boys love the most?

Simple rolled up paper!  What’s better than a toy that is both sword and eye scope?!

FYI – One of my favorite craft sites for kids is No Time For Flash Cards where Allie features not only fantastic crafts but pairs them all with a list of children’s books as well.

Hey you! Yes. You! I've noticed that you've stopped by to visit a few times! But I don't know who you are. Why don't you take a moment and introduce yourself. Don't be scared. I try not to bite. I know you're a lurker but I'd love to hear your thoughts about what's been bringing you here. And if you haven't done so already, don't forget to never miss a post by subscribing to my feed or receiving updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

  2. Your tulips are gorgeous. When we moved to France, our air shipment came in a huge cardboard box. Vance was 4 and he had more fun with that box than any toy he has ever owned, so I totally get the pleasure of rolled up paper.

  4. These are things I stuff away in a storage box, to be cried over when they go off to college or get married. And it is the simple things that entertain them right? Love the rolled up pieces of paper. I always laugh at the fun mine have (even at 10 and 12) with those cardboard tubes inside the wrapping paper!

  5. Your kids are so precious, Natasha. And it looks like they are having such a blast. And the daffodils–I always love coming to Salt Lake in the spring and seeing all of the blooms–even despite the snow. :)

  6. Too cute. You know, we STILL have the mat that went under the high chair. It is perfect for paint, and playdoh and all kinds of gooey craftiness.

    I LOVE the tulips.

  10. It is really the simplest toys that delight children the most. I love that you do so many hands-on activities with your kids.
