Library Loot!
No book covers today simply because the book covers this week aren’t exciting enough to make it worth my time.
For the first time, I don’t have any new fiction checked out for me. Lots of reference books and books that the boys checked out on their own. Their daddy is so happy when he sees what they brought home – all Batman, Spiderman, and Star Wars.
I checked out a lot of kids camping cookbooks and camp activities but really wasn’t impressed with any of them. So far my favorite camping book is the one which I bought last year Camp Out! The Ultimate Kids’ Guide by Lynn Brunelle. I’m slowly making my way through your camping book recommendations that you gave me. This is why I love my library!
Non-Fiction
- Cooking in a Can: More Campfire Recipes for Kids by Katherine L. White
- Cooking on a Stick: Campfire Recipes for Kids by Linda White
- Kids Camp! Activities for the Backyard or Wilderness by Lauri M. Carlson
- The Kids Campfire Book by Jane Drake
- Explore Spring: 25 Great Ways to Learn About Spring by Maxine Anderson. Our daffodils have bloomed! This book caught my eye at the library and I can’t wait to do some of these activities with my boys.
- Sesame Street ‘C’ is for Cooking: Recipes from the Street by Susan McQuillan
For the Kids
- Curious George Goes Camping by H.A. Rey
- Batman The Purr-fect Crime by Jason Hernandez-Rosenblatt
- Scooby-Doo! and the Scary Snowman by Mariah Balaban
- Oh Brother by Katerine Emmons (Ratouille)
- Flying High by Nick Eliopulos
- Spider-Man 2: Hurry Up, Spider-Man! by Kate Egan
- Star Wars, the Clone Wars. Jedi Adventures by Heather Scott
- Star Wars, the Clone Wars. The Visual Guide by Jason Fry
- Ten Things I Can Do to Help My World by Melanie Walsh. I actually picked out one book this week! This is a very simple picture book which was perfect for the age level of my two boys age two and four. As the title suggests, it covers how to help our world like turning off lights, throwing away garbage, recycling.
- What to Do About Alice? by Barbara Kerley. Read this one for my Children’s Literature book club which read picture books for Woman’s History Month. Just okay book nothing to rave about.
Movies/CD’s
- Challenge of the Super Friends
- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
- Coraline Soundtrack
- The Day The Earth Stood Still soundtrack
- Scooby-Doo’s Original Mysteries
- The Unconquered Spirit Chants & Trances of the Native American Indian CD
- Angels and Demons DVD
Still checked out but still unread from my last library loot post:
- The Lost: A Search for Six of Six Million by Daniel Mendelsohn.
- How to Say Goodbye in Robot by Natalie Standiford.
- Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern.
- Mare’s War by Tanita S. Davis
Returned to the library unread from my last library loot post:
- North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley. Cybils finalist. Just didn’t get time for this one and couldn’t renew.
- Cracked Up to Be by Courtney Summers. Cybils winner. I read the first couple of chapters but had to return it. Actually not in a hurry to check it back out.
Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva from A Striped Armchair and Marg from Reading Adventures that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. Check out what other participants are checking out from their libraries.

I’m glad to see Batman and Scooby-Doo are still popular! I guess they’re timeless.

on March 20th, 2010 at 1:39 pmSo I guess you’re getting ready for some fun camping trips this summer.
My son is way into Star Wars right now, which makes me ultra proud. I am a Star Wars fan from about 9th grade on. I think I drove my family nuts, but now I drive them nuts being a Twilight fan. What can I say, but I am dedicated to things I like.

on March 23rd, 2010 at 5:08 pmI’m a school librarian, the kids enjoy it and the need for a picture book like that was HUGE!
