No I haven't read anything by this author. I'm not sure I have even heard of her until after she won.

I have never heard of her either. But that's not saying a lot, I'm not very well versed in German literature.

No, I have never heard of her and I am from Italy, a little closer to Romania and Germany than the US. The Nobel Prize judges are really choosing writers who are scarcely known outside their countries. Even in Italian her books are not translated, apart from one which is available on the internet and a collection of short stories which is unfortunately out of print.

Nope, haven't heard of her. Or the 2008 guy. Oh well. :)

I'm waffling about this weekend. I'm starting to feel sick (Scott's been sick all week) and I don't want to risk transferring sickness to my grandma. Hopefully it's nothing. I'll let you know--sorry about the late notice. :(

I'm not familiar with Müller either, but the descriptions I've read make me interested in reading her work!

Well, in all our defense-- she's German-speaking Romanian and only has a few works in English.

I'll bet if they picked an author from the US we'd have heard of him/her.

:D

If my German weren't quickly fading into nonexistent, I'd pick up some of her German stuff.

No! I have not heard one thing about her. You'd think, as much as we read, that we would have. I'm hanging my head in shame. Maybe someone else has?
