Book Blogger Appreciation Week: Books I Would Have Never Read Had it Not Been For Book Bloggers!

BBAW Celebrate Books

Book Bloggers Appreciation Week (BBAW) is an annual celebration to recognize the hard work and contribution of book bloggers to the promotion and preservation of a literate culture actively engaged in discussing books, authors, and a lifestyle of reading.  BBAW is happening right now!   To fully participate in BBAW visit the official blog.

How many books do you read because of a book bloggers review?

I was curious as to how many books I’ve read since I began blogging have been influenced from blogger recommendations so I pulled some out.  This list is actually much larger; I didn’t include any review copies, blog tours, or requested books.  Each of the following are books I either purchased or borrowed from the library after a bloggers review piqued my interest:

(Click on a book cover, to be taken to my review.)  I’ve lost track of who exactly recommended yet but I know that a few of these include Becky’s Book Reviews, My Friend Amy, Shelf Elf, Booking Mama, Small World Reads, and Trish’s Reading Nook.

How about you?  How much of your book selections are based on a book bloggers recommendation?  And did you agree with it?  I must admit, I’ve had a few come back to me after I recommended a book to say they hate it.  Sigh . . .

Hey you! Yes. You! I've noticed that you've stopped by to visit a few times! But I don't know who you are. Why don't you take a moment and introduce yourself. Don't be scared. I try not to bite. I know you're a lurker but I'd love to hear your thoughts about what's been bringing you here. And if you haven't done so already, don't forget to never miss a post by subscribing to my feed or receiving updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

  3. I also read Wake because of a Blogger’s recommendation. I think it was J. Kaye.

  4. I can definitely say that the best books I’ve read this year — Guernesey Literary, The Book Thief, The Help, Hunger Games, and Absolutely True Diary — I read because of book blogs and/or twitter buzz by bloggers. But it is hard to remember where you first hear about something…

  6. Ah, I love how you posted the cover pictures. Somehow it’s all the more impressive with the visual how big of an impact bloggers have had on your reading!

I’ve picked up a few of these titles from book bloggers’ recommendations, too!

  7. LOL–sounds like my blogging. I think pretty much everything I buy now is because of some blogger or another. Glad to have recommended some titles to you–I know the ones here that I’ve read I’ve really enjoyed (Little Giant comes immediately to mind).

  8. All of my recommendations come from bloggers, one close friend and my sister these days.

  9. Love seeing all the covers. Most of the books I read these days are either ones I see blog posts about or ones that are popular at my elementary school.

  10. What a great list. I love your cover presentation, too. I’m finding that as my blog reader grows, my TBR piles grows exponentially. I just started keeping a list ofblogger-recommended books on my blog in January. I haven’t made much progress … yet!

  11. I love all the cover shots! It’s hard to believe that you have all of those just from book blogs, but I would venture to guess that I would have almost as many.

What’s wonderful about it is that it’s exposed me to some amazing writers that I would have never tried or heard about except for on someone’s blog.

PS…sorry I think my gravatar is messed because of setting up the new site.

  12. Mr. Popper’s Penguins! I need to reread that. For the life of me, I have no idea what it’s about anymore, but I know I really coveted that book in elementary school. I can actually picture where it was on the shelves of the little school library! I think I’d sneak over and read some of it when I wasn’t supposed to or something, because it has a forbidden fruit kind of association with it for me.

  13. My wish list definitely grew since I started blogging! Not everyone agrees with every one of my ratings, but that’s to be expected.

  14. Pretty much ALL my books come from book bloggers recommendations! Thanks for including me!

  15. My wish list — so huge — basically exists because of book bloggers.

  17. WHat a wonderful way to showcase the books you’ve read after reading of them in other blogs. If I cannot come up with a book or I’m looking for soemthing new to read, I think I’ll come here and check out this post of yours. It’s fantastic! 19. I loved this post just because I wanted to scoop all of these books up and read them for myself. I have read The Translator and thought that it was a very worthwhile read. Thanks for sharing all of these great covers and fueling my book addiction :)

  20. That is quite a lot of books. A few of them are on my list as well.
