Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (Again Not Really a Review – But Rather Me Geeking Out On Release Day!) & Where You Can Win a Copy with Much Swag
Today is the day!! Catching Fire is in a bookstore near you! How exciting! I feel like there should be confetti and much fanfare. I was fortunate enough to read Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins nearly three months ago and it is the book that I, nor anybody else, can stop talking about. This and it’s predecessor, The Hunger Games are the books that I’ve been telling everybody all summer to read.
But seriously, do I even want to review this one? Do you even want to know what happens? No, admit it. You don’t. If you’ve read The Hunger Games, you just want to know if it’s not disappointing. No. It’s not.
My book club read The Hunger Games earlier this year and so they all read my copy of Catching Fire as well as a few others including my mother-in-law and husband. Every single one of them LOVED it and NEED the third book NOW. If I had been thinking properly I should have had them all jot down mini-reviews as it was passed on.
Catching Fire comes out today (in case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t had it penciled on your calender for months)! You’ll want to run out right NOW and pick it up. I can guarantee that you’ll likely read it in one sitting.
Because I’m a dork and don’t have any cool Catching Fire giveaways to offer, here are some bloggers who are: The Scholastic blog (signed copy!), Reading Adventures, Booking Mama, Pop Culture Junkie, The Book Smugglers, Frenetic Reader, Greenbeanteenqueen, The Story Siren, and Presenting Lenore.
So have you read The Hunger Games *gasp* and are you running out today for Catching Fire?

Alas. It seems like a few months ago, everyone was advocating for people like me who haven’t yet read Hunger Games to wait until the release date for Catching Fire so we didn’t have to live with the suspense. I didn’t have the release date marked on my calendar because I haven’t read either of the books. This makes this release day difficult, though, because I’m swarmed with reviews of a book I haven’t read but want to read (heck, I haven’t even read the first one yet, so all reviews are probably full of spoilers!), so I can’t read the reviews. I didn’t intend to rant here; just feel very much on the outside on this one. I *will* read these books, but it may be awhile yet.
on September 1st, 2009 at 9:21 amThe kids and I have been waiting a long time for this. My Scholastic rep has told me she will try to get her hands on the audio for me ASAP. I was a little disjointed to see that EW gave it a “C”. What the hey?
on September 1st, 2009 at 10:00 amI think that I have a leftover ARC on the way to me, even though another 5 Minutes for Books reviewer got a copy to review.
My daughter and I can’t wait!!
on September 1st, 2009 at 10:37 amI can’t wait! My copy is coming today and I’ve already scheduled some much needed “alone” time to devour this book. My mother-in-law is anxiously awaiting my completion so that she can steal my copy and do the same. With how amazing the first one was I would be surprised if this one wasn’t as good, if not better.

on September 1st, 2009 at 10:53 amI just ordered my copy today. It’s not out here until the 7th, but Amazon appears to be shipping them, so I couldn’t wait any longer! And besides, I definitely don’t want to be spoiled by the many reviews that are going to be popping up now.
on September 1st, 2009 at 1:47 pmI love your non-review review! LOL
I have to admit, it was difficult to write a review without spoilers, but I think I managed it. There are LOTS of spoilers out there…so readers, beware!
Catching Fire is well worth the wait! I am only worried that I will be gnawing on my nightstand waiting for the 3rd book in the trilogy…
on September 1st, 2009 at 2:42 pmI liked your not so formal review.
on September 1st, 2009 at 3:57 pmI think I will get the book.Thanks.
Thanks so much Natasha for not “spoiling” it! I think that there is SO much hype for this book (well-deserved) but I didn’t review it for that reason. It’s just too great and everyone should read it for themselves and make their own decisions. It’s just one of “those” books!!
Love the non-review! (and the entire blog…Oh, and not to mention the woman that maks it all happen!) Thanks again! Happy release day!! : )

on September 1st, 2009 at 5:00 pmI downloaded the audioboook of Catching Fire this morning, and am listening to it now! I’m excited about it (but dreading the wait for the next one).
on September 1st, 2009 at 5:02 pmI have been hearing such great things about this book, thanks for putting me over the edge (I just ordered Catching Fire and The hunger Games from my local indie bookstore). I have nieces and nephews that are always seeking out good books to read, and will surely lend them these (after I read them, of course, and invite Suzanne Collins to prticipate in my blog’s Book Notes feature).

on September 1st, 2009 at 10:14 pmNo need to enter me, but I’m excited about this one too! Unfortunately, I don’t have time to read it until next week.
on September 2nd, 2009 at 8:27 amNo need to enter me but in response to your question: Oh yes, I’m freaking out! Or rather, i was yesterday. Wonderfully fantastic, of course. :O)
on September 2nd, 2009 at 1:26 pmI’m reading this right now. So glad to hear it’s not disappointing
That’s my biggest fear.
on September 4th, 2009 at 12:53 pmThanks so much for pimping my giveaway Natasha!
on September 4th, 2009 at 7:46 pmmy copy isnt here yet. meh. no fair.
on September 6th, 2009 at 1:33 amI absolutely loved this book. I just finished reading it and when I finally put the book down all I can think of was, what’s going to happen next? What’s in store for our troubled Katniss. There are no words to describe this book, all I can say is that suzanne collins is an absolute genius. I can’t wait till she comes near my town so I can get her autograpgh. This book was definetly worth the wait!
on October 18th, 2009 at 11:55 amThis book was only ok. I really liked the story line but the writing itself leaves something to be desired.
