Ten Reasons Why Book Blogger Appreciation Week is So Cool!
It’s coming! Book Blogger Appreciation Week!
Ten reasons why I’m excited for the second annual BBAW:
- Amy from My Friend Amy is the wonderful brains behind the whole thing and if that’s not enough to make it super cool then I don’t know what is.
- Because book bloggers are more than happy to party no matter the occasion. We just love having fun!
- Tons of fun guest posts, interviews, and daily blogging themes!
- Recognize the hard work of your favorite blogs by nominating them for a BBAW award!
- Giveaways! Because everything is more fun when there are prizes.
- Because people who blog about books are in one word: cool.
- Because last year I was fortunate to be recognized with a couple of awards myself. So yeah, that was fun and exciting.
- Because the blogosphere is getting bigger and bigger and it’s fun to pull us all together.
- Because I have a billion blogs in my reader already, so adding in a new favorite is never a problem!
- Because it’s Book Blogger Appreciation Week! It needs no other excuse to be cool!
From the Book Blogger Appreciation Week website:
- WHO: Anyone who blogs about books is invited to participate. In fact, we want everyone who blogs about books and reading to be a part of this week!
- WHAT: A week where we come together, celebrate the contribution and hard work of book bloggers in promoting a culture of literacy, connecting readers to books and authors, and recognizing the best among us with the Second Annual BBAW Awards. There will be special guest posts, daily blogging themes, and giveaways.
- WHEN: September 14-18, 2009
- WHERE: At the new Book Blogger Appreciation Week Blog! (Please note that this year there are three separate blogs and feeds—one for the main event, one for giveaways, and one for awards.)
- WHY: Because books matter. In a world full of options, the people talking about books pour hard work, time, energy, and money into creating a community around the written word.
Register your book blog by filling out the registration form! Registering ensures your inclusion in the BBAW 09 Database of Book Bloggers and enters you into the drawing for the BBAW 09 Grand Prize!
Nominate your favorite book blog in a myriad of awards. BBAW Award Nominations will be open until August 15, 2009. At that time, the nominees will be shortlisted by a preselected panel. Nominees will be asked to submit their best content for review by the panel. Final voting will begin in September.
Note: you do not have to be a book blogger to nominate your favorite blog. You just have to enjoy reading them! There are a lot of different categories and you can write in others as well, so it’s going to take me some time to go through and fill out my nominations. There are so many who are so deserving! Decisions, decisions. I thought the awards were really fun last year and I’m looking forward to discovering more blogs this year through BBAW.
So to recap quickly, what do you need to do now?
- Subscribe to the blog.
- Follow @BBAW on Twitter
- Register your book blog if you have one.
- Make your award nominations.
- Spread the word via your blog and twitter accounts if you have either.
- Wait anxiously for the week to begin to party like rock stars!
Excited.
Hey you! Yes. You! I've noticed that you've stopped by to visit a few times! But I don't know who you are. Why don't you take a moment and introduce yourself. Don't be scared. I try not to bite. I know you're a lurker but I'd love to hear your thoughts about what's been bringing you here. And if you haven't done so already, don't forget to never miss a post by subscribing to my feed or receiving updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

This will be my first year for BBAW, and am excited and interested in what it’s all about! That Amy, she is amazing isn’t she?
on July 19th, 2009 at 7:21 pmAww! You are too nice.
And yes the book blogosphere has exploded!!!! 528 registered already.
on July 19th, 2009 at 8:58 pmWould be my first time to join this (I’m hoping I’d be allowed to since my blog is not strictly a book blog) and in my excitement, I wrote an entry about this event:

on July 20th, 2009 at 11:27 pmGahhhhh! I need to nominate blogs but I’m so overwhelmed. So many more than last year. Actually, I don’t remember hearing about nominations until they were already shortlisted, so it’s exciting to give input this time (although still overwhelming!).
