48 Hour Book Challenge, Hour 21-ish Update

48hourbcWell, after I went to bed late last night, slept in this morning and then headed off to a family party, I find that it’s now 5pm and I haven’t even touched a book today for the 48 Hour Book Challenge hosted by Pam at MotherReader.  But I had a great time with my family! So I’m not to worried at my apparent lack of progress in my book stack.

Yesterday, I read from 7:30 pm to 1:30 am and read three books.  The first book The Blue Notebook by James Levine was so depressing that I had to stop and read Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life by Rachel Renee Russell and Frankie Pickle and the Closet of Doom by Eric Wight.

I think tonight I am going to finish up The Teashop Girls by Laura Schaeffer and also start Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea whom I met at BEA.  I’ve got some other books in the stack but I think that’s what I’ll start with right now.

As always, I’ll be updating in real time on my Twitter timeline using the #48hbc hashtag.  I think I’ll read for a few hours and then take a break and visit the other participants.

Last night I had a  hard time keeping my eyes open.  Let’s hope the yummy food party doesn’t put me to sleep.

Hey you! Yes. You! I've noticed that you've stopped by to visit a few times! But I don't know who you are. Why don't you take a moment and introduce yourself. Don't be scared. I try not to bite. I know you're a lurker but I'd love to hear your thoughts about what's been bringing you here. And if you haven't done so already, don't forget to never miss a post by subscribing to my feed or receiving updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

  2. The most important thing is to have fun and it sounds like you’re doing that.

  4. You’ll probably have a better reading experience for fitting some non-book fun in your day. This is the first time I’ve been totally free – and I’ve never read so slowly in my life. Have a great reading night!

  5. I haven’t done so hot on the marathon myself, but like you, I’ve spent some valuable time with my mom today! :) She actually went for a walk with me on the beach and carried my shoes so I could read as I walked. (Too sweet.) So I went to see a movie with her today, since she usually doesn’t have family here to readily go do things with her. I guess we’re both seeing it’s worth it to balance, right??? :) Well, off to read now!

  6. I honestly cannot imagine having 48 hours to myself to read! At least you are spending some good times with your family, and are making progress. I’ve had about 50 pages left of an ARC I’ve been attempting to finish for the last few days, and just can’t. What happened to my schedule????

  7. I have to spend a lot of time with my family too but I think I enjoy the reading time even more when I find that balance. Even adding just a couple extra hours devoted to books I’ve had on my TBR pile is very satisfying. Enjoy yourself!!

  9. You go, girl! I will be interested in what you have to say about Into the Beautiful North. I’ve wanted that ever since Kathy held her giveaway.
