Im just 11 years old but me and my teacher and some other students in the fifth grade with me read the book through my eyes and i thought i was a really great book and sad one to some students even got teary eyed just as they read the book because how could you imagine some adults and kids shouting bad things to her like ill poisin you and everything like that but most of all that really got to me was that someone actually held a coffin with a black doll in it but i really love the way of ruby bravery. :]

I was born in New Orleans in 1954 and was one of the "lower income white families" that began my first year of school at William Frantz in 1960. We were that lived in the Florida Housing Project. My mother pulled me out of Frantz during this period and I transferred to Andrew Jackson elementary. My parents weren't racist - we knew we were just as poor as the blacks who lived in the nearby Desire Housing Project - but, as noted above, there was a lot of anger, hostility and threat directed toward white parents that attempted to keep their kids in school. There were only 4 white kids that attended Frantz that year. I remember this event - I was there.

hello, as for a kid like me, i too even laughed at some black kids that went to my school..
not until i read the story review of Ruby Bridges... She was very inspiring. i have to find that book..well, this would be our lesson tomorrow at school..

PS:
Despite the pressure she had, she took courage and built confidence..
Amazing! now I learned not to look down on black people..
thank you so much!

i saw the movie it was amazing but very sad at parts it breaks my heart to know that there was segregation in the world and there still is, but if we all come together and work together we can all change that
