Thank You to My January Visitors – Let’s Spotlight a Few!
As always, thank you so much to all of those who took the time to visit and leave a comment this past January. As you know, I used to do a blogroll at the end of each month, but let’s be honest, you guys are so amazing and so great that I just couldn’t keep up with that post anymore. I’m not kidding when I say that it literally would take me hours to do. And I was truly humbled because it meant that there were a lot of you and I really, really appreciate each comment that you leave.
So I’ve come up with something new! At the end of each month, instead of listing a large blogroll, I will randomly select anywhere from 5-10 bloggers or commenters (because they might not necessarily have a blog) and give a little link love and spotlight back. I think this will be more worth your time and mine so much better. I just want to give a little something back and to learn new things as well.
So let’s begin.
- Amy at Hope is the Word. Amy has a great blog where she reviews books and chronicles the life of the the bookish. Amy is a stay at home mom of two preschoolers and a part time English instructor. Amy reads a variety of books including not only the 75 books she read aloud with her girls in January but a balance of fiction and non-fiction. Go over there and encourage her as she attempts to read Les Miserables before March and she’s going to participate in an interview with Kirby Larson, author of Hattie Big Sky this next month. I interviewed Kirby this past year and she is wonderful!
- Tina Ann Forkner, author of Ruby Among Us. Tina left a comment on one of my book reviews and I had to give a shout out because Tina will be here next week with an interview while I review Ruby Among Us. I always enjoy it when authors stop by.
- Monica from Moniblog. Monica is a woman of many interests. A vegetarian cook, a knitter, web designer and of course a reader. She recently reviewed X in Flight which I had checked out at one point from the library last year for a challenge, but returned before I could finish.
- And how about another Monica? Monica Taylor is literally my neighbor and we are in a book club together. She truly is the life of the party. Monica is awesome and loves to read just about anything she can get her hands on. I think very few, if any, of my in real life friends read my blog, much less comment on it, so thank you Monica!
- Darlene from Peeking Between the Pages. Darlene has a fun blog and is always hosting a giveaway or two. She also loves to knit and crochet (at the moment I’m feeling like the last one in bloggy land to not do this). She recently said, “Reading brings people together with a common bond of books. What could be more inspiring than that?”
- Lenore from Presenting Lenore. Lenore is a advertising copywriter in Germany and just recently wrote a great article about frequently asked questions for new book bloggers. Lenore reads a large variety of books from middle grade fiction to literary fiction and more. And she’s already reviewed Wintergirls. Sooooo jealous.
- Lisa from Books Lists Life. Lisa has not only a great book blog but a great new quilting/sewing blog. and is about to open a etsy shop so you can get your hands on it all. Lisa is an amazing reader and her posts are always great. Like me, she also has two small boys so I can relate to the days when she wants to pull her hair out. And our boys have the same pajamas. What can I say. We’ve got great taste.
Check out these wonderful ladies. And thank you for taking a moment out of your day to share in my little part of the world.
Until next time . . .
Hey you! Yes. You! I've noticed that you've stopped by to visit a few times! But I don't know who you are. Why don't you take a moment and introduce yourself. Don't be scared. I try not to bite. I know you're a lurker but I'd love to hear your thoughts about what's been bringing you here. And if you haven't done so already, don't forget to never miss a post by subscribing to my feed or receiving updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

This is nice Natasha, I always wondered how you did it before.
Only one new blog in this lot to me, though!
I look forward to your review of Ruby Among Us, I read that last year.
on January 31st, 2009 at 11:41 pmThanks so much for the spotlight – I’m basking in its glow
I did that blogroll list of visitors once and I can back you up on the statement that it takes hours.
on February 1st, 2009 at 1:13 amI love this idea! You gave me a couple new blogs to check out.
on February 1st, 2009 at 4:31 amThis is great idea! I love to discover new blogs, and this is wonderful way to find them.
on February 1st, 2009 at 6:33 amWhat a great wrap-up for the Month! I love that you gave a little information about each one. Did you do this throughout the month, and was there something in particular that you look for when doing a spotlight?

on February 1st, 2009 at 10:34 amI’m with Lenore-I’m basking in the spotlight today too. Thanks Natasha! What a great idea too. I can just imagine how long the list took. By the time you add links and all you’ve spent a lot of hours. I think you may have started something because I really like this idea!
on February 1st, 2009 at 11:05 amAmy – I read your review of Ruby Among Us after I finished. Did I leave a comment? I don’t remember. I have a awesome interview too. I really enjoyed the answers I received back.
Lenore – You deserve to bask in the glow!
Kathy & Beth F. – Oh good!
Wendy – This time around I just did it in one sitting. I think this next month I should maybe pick two a week and have my post in draft mode so it’s ready at the end of the month. As for what was I looking for? It was kind of random, but I chose a couple that I felt I knew and a couple that I felt I could know a lot better. Some may have just left one comment, others more. I don’t think I have a rhyme or a reason to it.
Darlene – I even had a list with all of the links already in and would just do a copy and paste job and it would still take me hours. I think the time it took me to do it wasn’t equal to what my readers got out of it, so that’s why I had to rethink it. This is a much better solution for me.
on February 1st, 2009 at 11:41 amAnd Thank You too! Now I need to fill the shop… The Bug has on super cute monster pajamas tonight too- Old Navy Clearance!
I think this is a great alternative to the full list.
on February 1st, 2009 at 9:48 pmOkay, how did I miss this?!?!?!?
Thank you so very much for highlighting my blog (and my so far feeble attempt at finishing Les Miserables ; ) ).
