Stephenie Meyer’s Midnight Sun on Hold Indefinitely After Illegal Copy Distrubition

After illegal copies of a partial and incomplete draft of Midnight Sun were released on the internet, Stephenie Meyer’s heart is no longer in the project.  She has put the project on hold indefinitely and is moving on to other projects.  Stephenie Meyer has released a statement on her website detailing on the incident and author’s rights to control their work.  As Midnight Sun is incomplete, full of mistakes and flaws, she would rather fans not read the incomplete draft of Midnight Sun, but has decided to publish the draft on her website so readers don’t “feel like they have to make a sacrifice to say honest.”   She does thank her fans and hopes we can all escape back into the Twilight Universe.

Okay, people!  What a way to ruin things for everybody.  I totally agree with Stephenie when she says as the author she has complete rights and control over her work and it’s her right to choose when and how people view that work.  To have her work leaked early in a unfinished draft certainly would be disheartening.  I’m with Stephenie.  If your heart isn’t in it, don’t force it.  Only work on what you love.

What’s your take?

Hey you! Yes. You! I've noticed that you've stopped by to visit a few times! But I don't know who you are. Why don't you take a moment and introduce yourself. Don't be scared. I try not to bite. 1. I just posted about this on my blog, too.
    http://crayolaab.livejournal.com/562757.html

I’m … unsure of my reaction. I was planning to read the manuscript this weekend, and not feeling guilty about it, either. Now I feel guilty for even having contemplated it. I don’t know what that says about my morals!

  2. I would just like to say that I am absolutely disgusted that this happened! I am completely outraged at the people who leaked this and have now ruined the experience for those of us that wanted to read the entire novel, and were content with waiting until Stephenie had finished it. I was looking forward to this so much and now no one ever gets to read about Edward’s entire experience. I think you all should be ashamed of yourselves.

  3. I refuse to read the chapters (and I hope that others follow me on this). This is Stephenie’s work, and I think once she gets over what I can only imagine is a heartbreaking moment in her brilliant career she’ll reconsider the project. With that in mind, I’m a die-heard Twilighter eagerly awaiting the release of Midnight Sun. No matter how long I have to wait, I’m praying that I get to present my copy of Midnight Sun next to the other books in my room.

I feel so so sorry for Stephenie. I hope this IDIOT hasn’t tainted what would have been an amazing finish to her Saga collection.

  4. You know, I may be the only person on the planet who has not read anything by Stephenie Meyer, but still this makes me extremely sad. Most especially for her…I can only imagine how personally violated she must feel. But also for her fans. Just so very sad.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 6:58 am
  5. That is awful! I wonder how it leaked? I was really looking forward to it, but she will go on to write other things, she is such a talent.

  7. All I can say is that this is horrible and I feel really bad for Stephanie. Whoever did this should really look in the mirror.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 8:03 am
  8. Stephanie is being a whiny baby and needs to get over it already. She’s losing fans very quickly. I know that I personally will never be reading anything she writes again. After her reaction to the negative comments on Breaking Dawn and now this? She needs to get over herself.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 8:04 am
  9. So let me get this straight…she is complaining about the leak and then she, herself, posts the leaked chapters? Hmmm. Interesting.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 8:13 am
  10. I also need to add that if this is the worst thing that is happening in her life, she has no right to complain. I’ll save my sympathy for people who deserve it. Like the people who have family in Iraq or have lost spouses, children, mothers, fathers, etc in the war. Or people who are homeless and living in poverty. Like I said before, she needs to quit whining and get over herself.

I don’t feel bad that this happened. Hey Stephanie here’s a news flash, sometimes life doesn’t always go your way. Grow up and deal with it.

  11. How did someone get a hold of the draft? It seems like it had to be someone close to her and that’s really sad.

If this means that there will never be a Midnight Sun at all… then I’m very disappointed.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 8:16 am
  12. When I first heard about this story, I felt awful for Stephenie Meyer. Then I went to her website and read her entire statement, and now I’m disgusted with her.

If she’s so devastated about this leak, then why isn’t she going after the person that SHE HERSELF GAVE the copy to who leaked it? You don’t have to be internet/media savvy to know that putting any draft of this online would lead to leaks.

    Something doesn’t smell right.

I’m guessing that she lost interest in writing Midnight Sun after the Breaking Dawn backlash and was looking for a way out, so she had someone “leak” a copy online.

Or maybe she’s looking to drum up interest/sympathy for herself. If enough people go “aww, Stephenie, don’t do this, you’re really great” then she’ll somehow find the strength to revise this draft and publish it.

This woman is a whiny brat who needs to grow up. She’s clearly in over her head. I, for one, am not reading another thing she publishes.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 9:05 am
  13. I totally agree with SM! I feel really bad for her because she gave copies of Midnight Sun to trusted people and they betrayed her. I think not writing Midnight Sun would be the best. It would say “How dare you give it away after I trusted you? Now, you won’t get to read it!”

    on August 29th, 2008 at 9:30 am
  14. Just how exactly is punishing all of her readers for one person’s mistake the best thing to do? Please explain to me how that makes sense.

This happens all of the time with books and music, etc. although oddly enough it has yet to happen with a Harry Potter book because the author is extremely careful. It’s also funny that none of her other books were leaked. This seems so suspicious to me.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 9:41 am
  15. Yes, more important things are going on in the world. But when your rights are violated, it still is important to you. Stephenie Meyer is actually a real person with real feelings.

I don’t believe this is a tactic to gain sympathy or that she orchestrated the leak. In her statement, she indicates that she knows how the leaked happened and it was not intentional on the part of whom she trusted.

Jennypoo- Actually this does not happen all the time with books and music. Music and books may be illegally downloaded AFTER they are released in the format in which they were intended to be consumed but in this case it was BEFORE the book was meant to be seen. I don’t think her intention is to “punish” her readers. If you are in a creative stump, it’s hard to work on something. Why write something that you have lost faith in? I believe her when she says that this is the case.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:05 am
  16. I’m not going to waste my time compiling a list for you but this does happen quite often, especially in music. Even if just parts of songs are released. It happens all the time.

She did not say it wasn’t intential, she said “no malicious intent”. There is a big difference there.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:10 am
  17. She’s a real person with real feelings? Huh….

I’m not saying her feelings weren’t hurt or whatever. I’m just saying she needs to stop acting like this is the end of the world. The world does not revolve around her or the Twilight series. I think someone needs to tell Stephenie that.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:10 am
  18. Heather – I don’t think she is acting like it’s the end of the world. She simply stated that she’s moving on to other projects. And I think that of all people, Stephenie Meyer is the one who knows best that the world does not revolve around the Twilight series. What I find so sad, is that for some girls it does. And that’s a shame. As author of the Twilight series, writing books is her profession, so I’d venture a guess that it’s important to her. If it were you, wouldn’t that be the case?

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:20 am
  19. Although I believe the leak is inexcusable, I have every intention to read the released chapters on stephenie’s website. I need to. There is no other option. I definitely revolve around Twilight.I hope she can pick herself up from this disappointment because my collection will be incomplete without a finished and bound copy of Midnight Sun.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:20 am
  20. I just think I would be more affected by this situation if I believed, unequivocably, that Stephanie Meyer had nothing to do with the leak. The fact is, I have my doubts. Her reactions to the negative reviews after Breaking Dawn came out spoke volumes about her to me.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:38 am
  21. Yes it’s her profession, but just because one person leaked her book, does that mean she should punish everyone? I would have had a lot more respect for her if she didn’t throw that tantrum om her website like a whiny 5 year old brat and just mentioned that it was leaked and that it wasn’t the finalized chapters and that she would prefer people didn’t read it until the book was complete. Not say that she isn’t going to write it now and that she would kill off the Cullens? It’s so childish.

“I definitely revolve around Twilight” – Ok that just makes me sad for you.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:43 am
  22. I’m confused…which means I’ll need to take a trip to Stephenie’s website. She had the first chapter or two on her website already. Did someone leak the entire manuscript?

I was so looking forward to Midnight Sun. I thought it would be so awesome to see Twilight from Edwards perspective.

    Hmm…sad

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:43 am
  23. Jennypoo – You know, my life doesn’t revolve around Twilight so much, that I followed everything that Stephenie said after the Breaking Dawn release(I’m not saying that yours does either). But I do remember that she said, it hurts, but you can’t please everyone. You may still have your doubts, but I don’t think she would be so dishonest as to release the draft herself.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:46 am
  24. Jenn M. – I haven’t actually read it (he, he) but I think it’s like the first twelve chapters or something like that (anybody know for sure?). Enough for it to be a big deal for her.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 10:49 am
  25. Natasha,
Yes, it was the first 12 chapters. 176 pages or so. From what I have heard, it basically gets to the part in Twilight where Edward offers to pick Bella up the next morning – to continue their question & answer session. I haven’t read it to know exactly where it ends but it is around that point.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 11:07 am
  26. Damn. Now I feel guilty because I downloaded the link and I’m like..60 pages into it. But I can’t help but feel that she overreacted sliiightly. Meh. I guess all that’s left for me to do is finish up what I’ve got and pray that she decides to finish it up. (Yes, I will finish reading what’s been released! Because even though I feel bad, there’s no way I’ll feel bad enough to pretend I don’t have a copy on my computer waiting to be read. :P )

    on August 29th, 2008 at 11:20 am
  27. Okay, I understand why SM would be upset that someone leaked a draft BUT what about all of her fans that didn’t read it? Everyone gets punished because of the actions of one person? To be honest I was tempted to read what was leaked at first, but I decided to wait until Stephenie put out a finished book. She needs to put all of the b.s. aside and focus on writing the book that she set out to write. And if she is truly this upset about the leak then maybe she should have been more careful with her work. Im still a big fan and i’m not saying what happened wasn’t wrong but come on Stephenie, the leak got this big because people were that excited to read your work.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 11:22 am
  28. This is very disgusting. And I’d rather not read what she doesn’t think is read-worthy. So while it might be out there, I’ll refrain.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 11:34 am
  29. I think it is a small overreaction. Don’t get me wrong it’s her work and she didn’t deserve this by any means but on the other hand she should have taken more precautions with the manuscript. She gave it to more then a few people involved with the movie and thus she shouldn’t be surprised by a leak. These things really have to be controlled.

I think she should have waited a little longer before posting a response, which I found to be scolding towards fans and overly emotional. One person scanned the document and she shouldn’t be upset with fans because it happened. I can understand being disheartened but to say now that she doesn’t want to work on it or maybe ever publish it especially after promising fans is disturbing in my opinion. I think I find it so bothersome because I don’t believe it. I think things are going to calm down and she’ll come back out at some point and say she’s doing it. Maybe that’s why this feels dramatic to me.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
  30. I agree with Stephenie when she said that this has violated her rights as a writer and a human being but i’m not going to say that i’m not disapointed. I’ve been looking forward to this book since I heard about it. The worst part is that some bad apples so to speak have ruined it for every most importantly Stephenie herself. A quesiton still remains will there be any more Twilight books whether it be from ANYONE’s point of view.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
  31. Aw that sucks, big time.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
  32. WHAT?!?!!?

    on August 29th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
  33. i am so upset about this happening…

on one hand i totally feel for Stephenie Meyer and i would be devastated as well were i in her shoes. I understand that its a huge blow to her but i dont think she should be reacting the way she is.

she herself said she knew who was responsible for the leak, so why isnt she doing anything about it? she should expose them and make them pay for ruining it for her.

also, i understand that her heart is not in the project after what happened, but i think quitting it completely is not the way to go about it. there are so many fans (myself included) that were so excited about midnight sun. everytime i read parts of twilight i used to think about what edward would be thinking and how it would play out in midnight sun. i dont think its fair for her to do this to all of her fans that were depending on her. she should just take a step back, re-evaluate things, and then continue with her work as if nothing had happened. she shouldnt let it affect her this much, if midnight sun were released in the future, just as many twilighters would buy it and want to read it. i doubt this leak would ever put a damper in the amount of eager fans interested in it.

im majorly dissapointed. in her and in whoever leaked the original.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
  34. I agree with Stephaine [who posted, not the author], it just got so much hype because people were so excited to read it. But I also think she’s taking it a bit far, delaying the whole release of the book? Pushing it a bit far. I think just saying how upset it made her was enough. It wasn’t all of her fans who leaked it. And she didn’t need to put the chapters online. If she could get all of the leaked spoilers of Breaking Dawn off the internet, why can’t she do that with Midnight Sun? I personally, will be reading the posted chapters, she posted them, so why not? If she’s going to stop the whole process of finishing it because of this. If she hadn’t been delaying the release, I might’ve reconsidered and waited. =/

  35. I am completly sad

i was looking forward to reading Midnight Sun. It’s ashame people had to ruin it!! Yes stephenie is right to be sad (in would be sad)
But i wish she wouldn’t stop!! and i hope that she will visit the Twilight universe again!! and this time not give anything to anybody till she’s ready!!

I wish those people would’nt have ruined it, i didn’t even know about it till she told everyone on her site.! :( (

    on August 29th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
  36. I am sad too that she has decided to put this on hold ‘indefinitely’ mainly cause I don’t know if that means whether or not she’ll EVER finish it. :( I think it’s SM’s choice how she responds to this violation. If she’s sad and angry- she has EVERY right to feel that way. I would probably feel that way too. My hope is that after a little while, she’ll be able to come back to it and finish out the series with this book. How ever long that takes her to get to that point. I do feel a little confused as to why she posted the chapters on her website. If she hadn’t, how many of us would have even known about the leak?

    on August 29th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
  37. first off .. stepheniehas every right to be sad and angry and to put the book on hold . although it is HUGELY disapointing . i am beyond the point of sadness i was so hoping and looking foward to reading midnight sun . i am not only disapoited that it is on hold …I am very very upset . I am behind Stephenie one hundred and fifty percent , i just hope that it gets finished released and published some day , because i know it would be one of the most interesting and inticing novel that one could read. I am very very sad , i cant express how disapointing this news is and for who ever did this to stephenie , just know that this is not aprreciated in the least ,im not saying ur evil but you ruind it for the rest of us . and hopefuly some day soon stephenie will reconcider but till that day comes we have only wonders of what thoughts lye in Edwards head . I AM BEYOND SAD i hope that stephenie reads all of these comments so that she knows how much her fans care and how much we want this book … i really dont think it will make a difference of how many books sell because her books are just wayy wayy wayyy to fantastic. i do think she should continue with midnight sun , because it is far to heart breaking if she didnt ..

  38. i don’t get her !!!on the website she said she put up the chapter that was leaked !!but when i took a look it was just chapter 1 which she already put up along time ago….
why would she do such thing as giving up on it…all of her fans have been waiting 4 this.. even when they all know the end… she getting on my nerves who cares if the were leaked get over it and pull yourself together. millions haven’t seen those copies and alway dream about midnight sun right by twilight in a bookstore!!! idk but im about to cry…

  39. Nat – If you follow the link that I listed in the post above it will take you to a PDF file which is all 12 chapters. Hope that helps.

I enjoy reading everybody’s thoughts on this. Keep them coming.

  40. I have to say that this seems a little TO convenient I mean not a lot of people really liked Breaking Dawn on her reviews and now she GIVES us a copy of her rough draft…

    on August 29th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
  41. I REALLY hope that she realizes soon that all of her fans, even the ones who downloaded the leak, would still be excited for the final copy and buy it! Ahh, I was SO excited for this, and I feel extremely guilty now. I’m really hoping she’ll decide to finish it one day.

    on August 29th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
  42. I think the leak may be a test. After such harsh criticisms and disapointment in “Breaking Dawn,” I think SM is testing out the fan base before spending such a great amount of time and effort publishing a new “Twilight” book–she wants to make sure it’ll still sell after “BD.”

    on August 30th, 2008 at 2:05 am
  43. Wow – I completely missed the fact that the whole draft had been leaked. i posted about chapter 1 last week and it’s been my most popular blog post – perhaps because people are looking for the whole manuscript!

I’m not going to read it though – even though Meyer has published it – it’s an unfinished version.

I’m intrigued by some of the comments here though that its some kind of conspiracy theory and that she meant it to happen!

  45. first off i’m extremely shameful to admit that out of curiosity i’ve read the leaked version of midnight sun (there i said it), but that was before i learned about the author’s decision to put it on hold indefinitely due to the leak. not that it’s any excuse or justifucation for doing what i did though. and like the author said, the leaked chapters were incomplete and flawed on some places. having said that it’s still really good and seemed to have the potential to develop into a story as compelling as twilight despite the similarity and overlapping, as it helps you understand the original twilight story better from edward’s perspective. what i’m trying to say is i’m really sorry to hear that stephenie was upset about the leak, and also sad to hear that the project will have to be put off due to this unfortunate incident cuz i think it’s a really good story for edward(despite it’s minor imperfection and all that). I really hope stephine will change her mind in the future and decide to publish the legal version of midnight sun for us fans to enjoy. that’ll be awesome! let’s all hope for the best!

    on August 30th, 2008 at 4:57 am
  46. Writing books is SM’s life, I fully understand the reaction she has, being upset is only part of it. She has dedicated loads of time into this wonderful saga and equally she is going to be as upset as we are. Respecting her decision is what needs to happen, though we may not agree with it.
Personally, my life revolves around the Twilight series, I have to read them and thats just a matter of fact; as bad as I feel about the leak I must take advantage of what SM has given us readers, the copy of chapter one even if that means continuously going to her website to read the only chapter.
I feel terrible about her decision she has made to quit writing but she has said she doesnt feel the same about writing it anymore. You cant unfortunately just pick up right where you left off in something like writing a book, its most certainly not like falling off a bike and getting right back on. Her books and writing are her life. Though,I wish she would continue the writing of a would be phenomenal Midnight Sun, I respect her decision.

    on August 30th, 2008 at 1:55 pm
  47. i am fully behind stephenie but i think she should finish the novel because people still want to read the whole book and not just 12 chapters i know that i read those chapters off her page and thought they were actually better than twilight because they are from edward’s point of view and i know that i loved them so i think she should still write it i know it might make alot of people happier if she did finish writing the novel

    on August 30th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
  48. I am truly dissapointed in the people that leaked the version of Midnight Sun. I would always rather wait for a year, than have her dissapointed. She doesn’t deserve that, she is such an amazing, kind person, and she deserves so much more.
It seriously makes me ashamed of the twilighters that released the copy. It’s not right. Poor Stephenie. I feel for her. I wish there was something I could do to reverse the insolent mistake.

    on August 31st, 2008 at 12:14 am
  49. i totally agree with stephenie. i was really looking forward to reading – the NONillegal version of – midnight sun. :( seriously, to whoever leaked midnight sun out, you stink. you ruined it for EVERYONE. maybe the book would’ve been even better AND longer. but now, we might never know. thanks.

also, what about future books. now that stephenie knows that this is what her fans do, do you think she’ll still want to share her books, dreams, and insight of the world of twilight with us? if i were her, i’d feel betrayed. i started reading midnight sun, but i just couldn’t. i feel too guilty about it.

    on August 31st, 2008 at 3:40 pm
  50. i feel so bad for SM… HOWEVER, i think putting it on hold was a bad move and not just because i want to read it. (which i do) i feel like she is letting the ” leaker” win! if i was her i would want to finish it and show just how much better the finished copy was!!! she posted everything that she didnt want posted on her website right after too!!! i know she said she might get back to it but that right there seems like she is throwing in the towel to me! i love her and her books and i am about to pound this unknown leaker to a pulp but i hate that she is saying ” nope! i wont do it! someone challenged me, i feel betrayed and now no one will read it!”
i know many of you will hate me for this but i read the 12 chapters and i fell in luv with them all ready! now the reason i read them was because i feel that if she really wanted to stay with the books she would have told her fans not to read it, finished the book and she would NEVER have posted 12 WHOLE CHAPTERS! i read it because i have a sad strange feeling that we wont get to hear the rest and……………. it brakes my heart……. i read it because i’m not ready to say good-bye yet, but, i think we are going to have to. i cried when i found out she posted them, i cried when i read them and i’m crying now that they are over

    on August 31st, 2008 at 8:00 pm
  51. ya. im rly upset tht midnight sun has been illegally posted. and im rly sad tht she may not write the rest of midnight sun… i want to kno what happens… i had read the rough draft of the 12 chapters, its rly good. stephenie, i think tht u should continue on writing midnight sun. don’t let this unfornatune thing stop u. we, ur fans, will stand by ur side. we have ur back. no matter wat. we all love u, ur a rly good author and in my opinion, the twilight saga is the BEST book series in forever. we want u 2 finish midnight sun, we’ll still love it even tho this happened. keep writing, :D . hav hope and hav faith. this is just a bump in the road. dnt wry, we all will make it thru. ~jazzi

  52. Okay, when my friend first told me that the 12 chapters were leaked, I was estatic. I immediately went on her website to read it, because that’s where my friend said it would be. Then I read what she had so say, and I went from being super happy to sad beyond belief.

And, yes, I did read the first 12 chapters. I was WAY to curious not to. I couldn’t help it. I found it at 11 last night and read until 2:30 in the morning. Then I woke up early this morning and read the last 20 pages.

Though I feel for Stephenie (I would be an absolute mess if this happened to me work), something here seems suspicous. ESPECIALLY the fact that the leak ended right before the meadow chapter. Which I was itching to see (and I’m sure so were a lot of other fans.) It seems very fishy to me that she would happen to stop at one of the most interesting parts, and then leave us hanging “indefinitely”. Hmm…

Anyhow, I hope she finishes it, because though I am suspicous, I am hopelessly in love with the Twilight series (TEAM EDWARD!! That’s why this stung so bad…I wanted to get inside his damn head!) and I cannot wait to read it. I am so impatient that I’ll probably check her site a little too often for updates…

  56. I think Meyer has every right to be upset. She spent a lot of time working on the draft and for someone to do what they want with it is wrong. However, one of the pieces of advice I’ve heard most often from published writers is you need to be careful about who you give your drafts to.

    on September 3rd, 2008 at 10:39 am
  57. SO sorry, but she shouldn’t let them win, she should care more about her fans than her ego.

    on September 5th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
  58. okay, personally i think stephenie is being kinda over dramatic about this. i understand that she “lost the will to continue writing” but shes really gonna lose fans. & by posting the partial draft on her site it’s like how honey draws bees. people WILL read it, i dont know about you guys if she just kept quiet about this and didnt post the partial draft up less people would read it. a lot less. but now a hell of a lot more people are going to be and isnt that going to make this a lot worst?

also, i read the 12 chapters. holy shit, i swear shes trying to like torment us! on her site is said she wished we wouldnt read it, but we could. thats kinda like telling a kid not to think about penguins. we end up thinking about penguins! it was like a teaser in a sense, she left off where the real story starts. now we’re gonna have to friggin wait until shes done with her fit to read the rest.

i swear midnight sun better not blow like breaking dawn. the first 12 chappies were good but ahem, we thought the first chapter to BD was good too..

  59. Stephanie, Post 33! Why Would She Want TO Get Them Back! Maybe She Is Just To Big A Person TO DO That! Yes They Hurt Her And No She Doesnt Deserve It, But Forgive And Forget! Maybe She Runs By THat! Getting Revenge Doesn’t Really Help! It Only Brings You Down TO THat Persons Level! Maybe She Doesn’t WAnt TO Be Like THat! WHats THe Point Of Doing THat SInce You Get Absolutely Nothing Out Of It! And Those Idiots Who Think That THis Is Some Kind Of Conspiracy, SHUT UP! It’s Pointless TO Say That! SHe’s Hurt And Angry! WHen Stuff Like THis Happens YOu Get Irrational! Yes SHe IS Overreacting SLightly! But It’s HEr Choice WHat She Does If SHe Decides Not TO Publish There Really ANd Truluy Is NOTHING Yo0u Can DO!! So BAck Off HEr ANd Let Her Clear Her Head! Let Her Take A Break And Blow Off Some Steam! She’s Pissed At THe Moment! So WHat! LEave Her ALONE! YOU FREAKIN IDIOTS!!!

Speak for yourself, not EVERYONE thought BD was horrible. I loved it.

  62. This is upsetting. It really is. I read the whole Twilight series within a week (which is fast for me, believe me)and I was absolutely psyched to find that I could read the 1st chapter to Midnight Sun on the internet. I hate to admit it, but when I found out that the first 12 chapters were posted, I jumped on it immediately. Then, I was running off Twilight obsession, so of course i wanted to read it! Btw, it was amazing. You understand Edward perfectly and, he’s really not what you expect. He’s even better. Now, I’m sorry to undertand that Stephenie feels that her fans should not read this and that she feels violated – Conspiracy or not, If she’s not continuing to write it, I’m going to read it even if it’s incomplete. I needed a dose of Edward, what can I say? I know a lot of people are against it, but go ahead and read it. There’s a big chance she’s done with it and that’s all you’re ever going to get when it comes to furthering the Twilight Series.
If she decides to finish the novel, i WILL buy it and read it all over again. 1)Because it was just THAT good, and 2)I need to have it to complete the collection.

If this really happened like the way she said it happened, Im sorry Stephenie feels the way she does. That must suck to have her hard work leaked like that. But, Sh*t happens. Take a breather, then go at it again! People WILL read it, poeple WILL buy it and the ratings will be awesome!

If this happened out of a conspiracy to give up, I’m also very sorry Stephenie feels the way she does. What do you think she was going through that made her do this? The stress, the controversy and all that that forced her to give up on her greatest success and post it on the internet as the last hurrah? She gave up something she loved. This series was her life.

Anyways, none of us know EXACTLY what happened. If you want to read the chapters, go for it. I’d reccomend you to. I’ve actually gotten some closure out of it. Brought me back to the good times before that useless Renesmee character got thrown into the picture. If you don’t want to read it, then just sit back and wait for this to blow over. I have a feeling she’ll finish it. She just needs some down time.

    on September 17th, 2008 at 3:36 am
  63. You people are insane. Most of you have the right idea. Stephenie’s rights were violated in the worst way possible. Those of you that say she is trying to punish all her fans have it wayyyy off. How would you feel if a rough draft, something that was full of mistakes and not ready was leaked to people? Why should she have to put all the effort into getting all the kinks out and adding and smoothing things out in the story when she already knows that everyone has read her unfinished book? She’s not punishing the fans obviously since she posted the rough draft on her sight so people can read it anyways since she will not be publishing it. I have read most of it thus far and have gotten just as into it then the other books. You people need to get over yourselves and understand whats behind what she said and did. You probubly would have handled things much worse then she did.

    on September 21st, 2008 at 2:06 pm
  64. i personally think that it was VERY inconsiderate for this person to do something so selfish. but you got to think about it… it probably was not only this persons fault for doing so. he/she was probably bribed into doing it. but you would think that people these days would have more feelings towards others.

i really hope that she continues the stories i love them. my friend got me into them an i read all four books in two weeks. they are fantastic books an it took alot of work. i am sorry for those of you who dont see how hurtful this can be. yes there are more important things going on in the world but this is different she trusted certin people NOT to do this. what a great friend.
    KEEP WRITING an DREAM BIG!
    (TEAM EDWARD!!!!!)

    on September 21st, 2008 at 6:32 pm
  65. I ttly agree w/ amy. it is really depressing that someone leaked it, and i havent even had the chance to see what SM posted herself (stupid computer isnt working) but from what i hear is that its really good. also SM needs to get over it. yes it was a major blow, i get that, but the best way to deal with it is to keep writing and not let it bother her anymore. In the book Tuesdays with Morrey they say to only allow yourself a few minutes of self pitty, and let your emotions out. SM has done both of those and now she needs to stop wasting her time dwelling on it (and stop really worrying her fans about it) because i sooo want to read this book

    on September 23rd, 2008 at 10:00 am
  66. i cant believe some one would post the pages it ruins the chance 4 the rest of us to read it and the experiance

    on September 25th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
  67. I still don’t really know what to think. I am upset that she isn’t going to finish the book, but at the same time that is her decision. I don’t really know if she blames her fans, which I hope that she doesn’t because a fan didn’t do this. I have however noticed that she never really has thanked her fans. I mean it really couldn’t have gone very far without us, no matter how good a book is. I am still upset. still a fan, but upset

    on September 25th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
  68. I feel bad for Stephenie and I agree with her… I started to read it and now I feel sooo bad! and I quit in the 7th paragraph… I still hope she does finish it… :( please do! Stephenie!

    on September 26th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
  69. This is all so disappointing..I’m really just going to hold on to what I’ve got now. The four books plus the first few chapters of Midnight Sun. As I said, I really hope she finishes it.. It looks so promising and it’s like a completely different book in Edward’s POV. I understand how she feels though, and it’s really awful what happened. But still, I can’t help but feel she’s being ridiculous about it as far as with her fans. She never really has shown true appreciation for us, has she? So why are we putting her on a pedastal and begging HER forgiveness and boosting her ego? *shrug*

    on September 28th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
  70. All i have to say is that i’m EXTREMELY disappointed in the people that betrayed Stephenie Meyer, and they had absolutely no right to do that. I just hope that she continues to publish Midnight Sun because there are still millions of people like me who would still love to read and buy the book. I completely understand her reason for putting a hold on Midnight Sun, but she would still be letting down her fans. hey, its not our fault.
    with love

    on October 7th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
  71. I know this is a really old post and I'm not sure if I'll get any response to it, but how many of you read the chapters posted on SM's website.  I had read the 1st chapter when she posted it a long time ago to let us in on her idea.

I downloaded them, but I can't decide if I want to read them yet.  What do you all think…if anyone is actually still reading this post.

    on October 9th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
  72. jenn m:

yeah. i couldn’t decide whether to read it or not. in the end, i didn’t. i don’t know. i just felt like i was betraying her and doing the thing that made her not finish the book in the first place! maybe one day i’ll read it though. i’m so disappointed.

    on October 15th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
  73. I read the first chapter wayyyyyy back when she posted it. I was SO excited for this book. Ahh. Oh well. I’ve read what she posted after the leak as well, and it’s really amazing, even unedited. I say read it, but hey, it’s up to you. I do know that you’ll love it.

..You’ll probably be mad after reading it though. Because you’ll want more! I was at least. :P

    on October 16th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
  74. What a pity :(

It is a pity, whether she publishes it or not. I am definetely disappointed, but I believe Stephenie has made her decision, and we should respect that now and whenever or ifever she should decide to change it.

You must understand that it would be a huge blow to have someone who is your supposed friend leak your manuscript.

On a personal basis, I’d definetely buy the book even if I had read the leaked chapters. Simply because it is a book by Stephenie Meyer to add to the collection.

  75. I hope this book comes out i’m done the twilight saga and i am waiting for the movie to come out but i need to read somethign while i’m waiting because no other book interest me anymore

but i realy am sad about this happening i hope that this person apoligizes because i really want this book to come out

and i hope to see more books out i think there should one after breaking dawn because it was so so so good that is my favourite book EVER !!

    on October 23rd, 2008 at 7:06 pm
  76. Okay, as you are I’m also totally with stephenie that you shouldn’t force your heart to do something you don’t wanna do…but i still think that it’s a bit unfair for those who have always been with her to help her as much as possible. So as she said: “You can’t compare one tree to the entire forest!” What I’m saying is that just because there’s one bad guy in a group of a million people who try to support her she shouldn’t completely stop writing on Midnight Sun…there are still people in the world who believe in her…more than she can comprehend…

    on November 9th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
  77. Okay… listen everyone. Alot of people are saying that she is “punishing” her readers by not writing the book. They say that she overreacted.

THat is compleatly un true. She says that she just cant write the story to her full potential and would probebly end up “killling off edward and bella.” Like she said creativity doesn’t just come to your mind. She doesn’t just know everything that is ganna happen in the book when she started writing it.

She is only human and i think she handeled the situation extreamly well. She told everyone that Midnight SUn is on hold instead of leaving us in the dark. She has every right to stop righting the book. The reason she rights is entierly for her fans ( though part of it is because of them) she does it because its fun for her. When you r righting a paper about a subject you dont like, you wont do aswell as you would do if you liked the subject

She is not punishing her readers she is putting Midnight sun on hold for herself and to work on other projects. Even if she does not ever finish righting Midnight sun thats okay. She does not HAVE to. As a writer she has no responsibilities for adding on to a project. She completed the The Twilight Saga with Breaking Dawn so the project is tecknecly finished.

I love the twilight series and cant wait to see SM other projects.

    on November 20th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
  78. i agree, but disagree,
i think that if you have a book that everyone is waiting for. you should just go ahead and publish it, and not put the draft up that will make people want to read it even more. yeah its wrong for people to illegally distribute that but still, move onnn. i think midnight sun would be amazing and i think ALOTT of the fans including myself would be BEYOND pleased with its release and the book itself.

  81. Hi…
i think stephanie is right about her rights as an author
however, i think she should finish midnight sun and get it published!
everyone loved edward and for this book to come out is a dream come true i mean people myself included dream about the books and the characters they spend all day thinin about them and now because of a fue stupid people the best book ever will not exist!

    on November 21st, 2008 at 3:46 pm
  82. I think it is extremely stupid for people to read it before it comes out! Why even bother?!? She might change things in the story, and now none of us will have any idea! Why can’t you be patient and wait?? If she doesn’t finish it,I will be pissed.

    on November 23rd, 2008 at 12:43 pm
  83. oh i beg of you stephanie meyer to finish writing the book because if you dont i will. your are like the best author ever. please just do this for your fans. i will and i mean will not pick up another book AGAIN if midnight sun does not come.

    on November 25th, 2008 at 2:52 pm
  84. i’m totally with stephenie, in some ways though, it was wrong for the book to be posted on the net without her consent and all and for sure that truly sucks, no doubt the experience has been ruined for both the readers and for stephenie, but it will be great if she did finish the book for everyone who loves her and her work, coz i know that i do.

    on November 27th, 2008 at 7:39 pm
  85. I think we should all stop complaining and let stephanie meyer do what she wants. it is her book not yours so everyone grow up. she said in an interview that she will go back to righting it after she finishes a few of her other projects. So we can all wait a couple of years. GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!

    on November 28th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
  86. Stephenie i am with you. It is upsetting that some on steal’s your work and claim that its theirs. We all love your books. And wish you good luck. When you publish midnight sun after that right another book relating to the twilight series. Its just sooooooooooooo good i dream about it all the time. And the movie, it is like mind blowing. But not better than the book. Love you

  92. i accidentally came across the manuscript and thought it was legit so i read it, then i found out that it was illegally posted on the internet?!?!?! who ever did that is seriously heartless, and now Stephenie Meyer may not even publish the book, i am truly outraged. i really would like Stephenie to publish the book, but if she doesn’t i understand her reasoning’s behind it. i write tons of books and poems in my spare time and if someone got a hold of them and slapped them on the internet i would punish everyone who read it by not publishing it, but lets hope Stephenie Meyer is bigger than that.

    on December 18th, 2008 at 11:01 am
  93. Well I read the part of midnight sun on stephenie’s website. She says she is going to continue working on it now and plans to get it published. I personally really enjoy reading the twilight saga. I look forward to reading all of Edwards takes on what happened.

    on January 4th, 2009 at 10:39 am
  94. hi i love the twilight saga it is vaey good. i read midninght sun and i link it is better then twilight so plz finish it.

    on January 5th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
  95. I have decided not to read it…the draft that is. I am undoubtably in love with her work but she will finish it. Wether it be a year or 10 she pretty much has to! When she published Twilight, it was like a piece of her was born. After effecting so many lives like this its impossible to not be effected yourself writing such an imporible piece. So with all of my restraint i will wait!!!! But i do hope that it isnt too too long.

    on January 9th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
  96. I think that Stephenie has every right to be upset and feel the way she does because someone she TRUSTED leaked her “masterpeice”. I think its extremely noble of Stephenie to put Midnight Sun on her website because she wants her dedicated readers not to feel guilty for reading the leaked chapters. I understand her postponing the completion of Midnight Sun because she doesnt want to kill the characters however I think its not fair to her readers to “indefinitely” hold it off. I hope she considers completing it soon! :]
Because I would love to hear more of the Twilight Saga from Stephenie Meyer!

    on January 14th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
  97. hi so I love the twilight series and hope there is more to come! I’m sure everyone does but I believe that we should give Stephanie more time to spread her thoughts out and make more books but her to be able to make her future books for the Twilight saga if she makes more, even better(: I hated reading until everyone was reading Twilight at school and so I thought I would see what they were all talking about and now I am consistingly reading her books everywhere I go. So Thank you and I hope there are many more books to the Twilight Series! (:

    on January 26th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
  98. I personally think Stephenie Meyer’s is being a complete b*tch about this, she is giving us the readers a collective punishment because she was foolish enough to send her unfinished draft via email. Now i love the Twilight series and want to read Midnight Sun, but Stephenie Meyer’s grow the f*ck up.

    on January 28th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
  99. hey i just wanted to let you all know that your facts about midnight sun are wrong that if you go to Stephine Meyer’s website it will tell you that she is not gonna abandon the project of Midnight Sun and in fact is working on it..

    on January 29th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
  100. Rumor control:

The status of Midnight Sun has not changed since this article was published back in August.

From what I understand, she is writing. But nothing Twilight related.

    on January 29th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
  101. everyone is saying how they wont even read it but i kno that everyone wants too but i get what some of u mean ya i felt bad for stephanie yes its sad snd now its ruined for everyone but she made such a big deal about it and i admitt that i read the draft and im not ashamed about it

    on January 29th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
  102. I personally was so excited to hear that stephanie was going to write a book from edwards point of view, and then was absolutely devastated to hear that it would not be published. almost my whole school has read the books and are all totally bummed. Please someone tell me is it or is it not going to be published FINISHED and all!!!! I need to know!!!!

  104. i really wanted to read midnight sun twilight is my life i didnt bother with the partial draft i mean that is sick how someone can just post an author’s UNfinished work how can someone do that now they just made Stephanie feel horrible and its 99.99% chance midnight will never be finished

    on February 14th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
  105. Well I can understand where Stephanie is coming from..this is her story and she should be the one to decide when and where it’s to be released I just feel sad because we are all in the same boat…we all love the Twilight Series and are looking for more..it’s very addicitive I have read the books 5 times since xmas(just in case I left something out)…I would so love to read it all from Edward’s perspective but only time will tell if we do…I just hope that if Stephanie does decide to write the book that she writes the whole series from his point of view I would like to see what he was feeling when he first left…When he thought Bella had killed herself…also all the feelings he had over Jacob and her being pregnant I would love to see all that in some books..I’m keeping my fingers crossed and believe that when Stephanie is in the right frame of my mind she will resume and take our breaths away once more with what she gives us…

  106. Ok…. whoever spilt the release of the new book midnight sun wuz ignorant. But that should not stop stephenie meyer because she is a very talented, beautiful writer. She should finish her book because her fans count on her to finish her book. I read all the other twilight series of the book so it would be a dissappointment if she dont finish.

    on February 23rd, 2009 at 4:00 pm
  107. I can’t believe that I have to wait for this book. I can’t believe that some one linked it out on the internet. Thats messed up to do. I am now going to have to wait and reread my books and watch Twilight the movie. But I guess it will keep me waiting to see what happened in the end.

  108. if use havent heard she is still writing it, she was writing it at the same time as breaking dawn and after the leak of Midnight Sun she put it on hold but i read some where that her publisher said that as she was going to get bak to it once she had completed breaking dawn….

    on March 5th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
  109. okay, well breaking dawn is complete and still no word if she is going to finish it. i really hope that she does. i own the rest of the series and most everyone i know has borrowed it and we all love it, but we are ready for Midnight Sun!!!!

Steph, don’t let others discourage you. I know you will do what you think is best. Just please think of us that are faithfull!!

  110. Wow – I devoured the Twilight books in one week (I had resisted temptation for a good long while) and thought I was the only nut, until I talked to all my friends about this (and btw, they’re 30+ yrs old) – seems like I am not the only one crazy for how this series made us feel. Please, please write Midnight Sun – after reading the “leaked” posting on SM’s website, I cannot wait to hear more from Edward’s POV. Not that I don’t like Bella, but EC has so much more to tell…and we have so much more to devour.

    on March 30th, 2009 at 7:08 pm
  111. Please finish Midnight Sun. I have read Twilight and the sequels and could not put them down. When my friend told me about Midnight Sun I had to read the draft, I could not stop reading it and when I got to the end of the draft I wanted more. Your books have kept my life bearable these last few months and for the first time in my daughters life she has actually read all four.

  114. Hey Stephanie may i call that? well i really want to cut that “someone’s” throat but can u please publish Midnight Sun. If not me then for your other fans. Don’t punish us because other people are B.C’s (a.k.a Butt Cookies). Anyway if you love us and want us to keep supporting you, then you have to publish this amazing book. Yes, i did read your draft but not all of it.You gave us no choice soon everyone is going to hate you! I know this is very harsh critism but you need to hear it because if i don’t say it then nobody will. now to the positives. Twilight,New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn (a.k.a my favorite until Midnight Sun, which you are going to publish)was soooo great. You are and awesine author, embrace it or you become last year’s news trust me. I could write for days but i’ll leave on this note. i love you and will forever love you just plleaseeeeeee publish…………….

  117. I have read the hole seres 9 times and was really looking forward to reading midnight sun but I guess that will never happen and i am heart broken. i will wait for it to cum out for as long as she needs.

    on May 7th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
  118. I recently became obsessed with Twilight when the movie came out and I just finished reading all 4 series. My boyfriend is away at military boot camp until Aug. 6th and reading the series has helped me occupy my mind soo much, but thats not why I love it. My english teacher who is also in love with Twilight told me the fifth book, Midnight Sun was coming out and let me tell you, the excitement was hard to control then she told me that it might not come out because someone copied it and put it on the internet. I was furious, how can someone do that? Take someones unfinished work and expose it, did they even think of the outcome? Guess not. My heart goes out to Stephenie but I truly hope Midnight Sun is published because she is an amazing writer and I really do not want the Twilight series to end due to someones careless, stupid, unthoughtful, theft like actions.

I hope Stephenie doesn’t let that person knock her down, they dont deserve the satisfaction. Millions of people will be heart broken if Twilight comes to an abrupt end, including me. Thinking about it makes me want to cry.

I hope the person who leaked Stephenies work reads this because they are a disgusting and evil person.

    I think I’ll end there.

PS; I love Twilight! And Edward Cullen! And Stephenie Meyer!!

    on May 10th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
  119. First of all let me say I used to make fun of people who were into the twilight saga series, however after I watched the movies I read all the books including the partial draft of midnight sun and I’m OBSESSED. Yes, It was a total violation of Stephanie’s property, but how much do you car about your fans….I totally get what she’s saying but why punish the fans when they haven’t done anything but support her.

    on May 12th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
  120. I only read the series after my friend had lent me the saga last weekend, it took me an all of four days to finish all four books. I have never read anything that had such strong emotion behind it and quite frankly am left with no words to describe the story, there are no words in my vocabulary that are meaningful enough. Even now, 3 days after finishing the saga, I’m left touched in a way that I can’t described. Yesterday I had decided that I was going to go buy the books for myself knowing that I wasn’t only goning to read this story once. The first three books are now special additions and to my surprise when I had gotten home, found the first chapter to Midnight sun. I had heard that she was bringing out another book and read the chapter on Midnight sun that was in the back of the book Twilight. I read it completely ingrosed. Even though I already knew how the story went and the happening, I enjoyed to be reading the story again from Edwards point of view. The chapter ended and I went on the net find a release date for the new book, it was then that I found the link to your page. I couldn’t believe that the book was no longer going to be finished. I followed the link on your page to the draft that she posted and read what she had written. The story is amazing, even though I new what happened in the story, I was addicted to it, reading it from his veiw was amazing. The story was only half finished and I wished there was more. I wish I could come across the people who did that to her as I would punch them in the nose, not only have they hurt her, they’ve affected everyone that loves her books. I think that she is the most talented author I have ever come across, and am saddend by the fact that I wont get to finish the story completed. I hope that she see past what has happend and continues the book. I know that there would be alot of people out there that would love to read it and I hope that the fans of her books are enough for her to continue working on it. So thanks alot to the people who posted her work on the net, you have now managed to ruin it for everyone and I hope that you live to regret your stupid decision for the rest of your lives!

    on May 16th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
  121. I am definetly upset about what happened but you cant just leave all of your fans hanging when it comes 2 Midnight Sun like Liz said we dont deserve 2 be punished. But i understand Stephanie needs SOME time but I cant wait another month I need something 2 keep me busy during summer besides frying my brain with electronics. I love EVERYTHING about twilight I cant stop reading it 4 like 1 second!!! And if your not gonna come out with midnoght sun PLEASE try to work on something else, I NEED 2 read something of you amazing talent 2 read!!! Dont just leave all of your fans hangin. WE need 2 read!!!!!
    TTYL

p.s. stephanie I love your books and I dont think I could live without them! You’ve got a huge talent, use it 2 write your AMAZING books!!
    One hugely upset fan,

  122. I think everyone should have a look at her website again… sounds to me like she is writing it after all and is, in fact, excited about it. She says it is going to be long… even longer than Twilight. I am so EXCITED!!!

    on May 27th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
  123. I did read the sight and am trying not to get my hopes up out of fear of disapointment. I support stephanie’s decision whether she finishes it of not. I have a great deal of respect for her. The twilight books arn’t just books. They go much deeper than that. They touch your soul. If you really appreciate them, they become a part of you. Any author who can write like that is immensly loved and supported. Kuddos to stephanie and all her fans out there sticking with her on this.

    on May 31st, 2009 at 2:50 pm
  124. I can understand why Stephanie wouldnt want her work read until it was complete…Would you girls want to be seen before you put your make up and outfit on in the mornings? Its alot like that and I hope Stephanie chooses to finish midnight sun it would put a few answers to the questions about the other 4 books. Yes i am a Twilight saga fan ues ive read them numerous times and will read them many more times. I have rarely found a book to have action or romance or love and suspense in them let alone all in the same book. I hope Stephanie goes beyond midnight sun and gives us a book about Jacob and Reneesme and how their lives turned out. I really want to read it all but I will wait with the hopes she finishes it…

    on June 2nd, 2009 at 5:26 pm
  125. I have to agree with the joy of finding the Twilight series. I have not read anything this remarkable in years!! The idea of Midnight Sun never being released is devastating! Please, Please Steph – reconsider!!!! Let Edward finish his story!!

    on June 7th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
  126. I understand that she feels that her rights has been violated but to keep the book from ever publishing finish and complete is only hurting her fans. I became a TWILIGHT fan in less than a month ago and I really, really love the saga. I can’t seem to put the book down even now. I’m sure I’ve re-read each book about two to three times now. I still can’t stop. I think that MIDNIGHT SUN should really be finihsed and published. I’ll say I read the first tweleve chapters because I really needed something new from Meyer about the saga. It was so good. Really good. I think though that if Meyer was really, trully angry about it being leaked she should of never published it herself onto the website for her fans. She should understand that THE TWLIGHT SAGA is so addicting that people would only demand more and more from the book. So MIDNIGHT SUN should really be finished and published. Also if she is going to continue on with more story for the fans may I give a few points I would love to read about still…
    1. It would be really interesting to see Reneesme and Jacob’s story. (I’m not a Jacob fan and I find his imprinting thing really weird still and it happened to be on Reneesme) And with Jacob I really thought that he wasn’t going to imprint but just like Leah. Now that to me would have been interesting. I was kind of hoping that Reneesme would have fallen for another Vampire…(a Volturi Guard??)
    2. I would like to see what happens to the Volturi group. What happens to each guard and the three ancients (Aro, Caisu, & Marcus). Also What would happen between Aro and Marcus when Marcus finally knows that Aro killed his wife. That would be extremely interesting.

I havent read anything that has attached to me this much in a while. I think MIDNIGHT SUN should really be continued because so far it was already so good. Also I would love to see an acutall end to the Vampire world that Meyer has created for her fans…

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE continue MIDNIGHT SUN.
Also another book!!!- that would be awsome.!!!
    :) :)

    on June 8th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
  127. Also…if Meyer could write an Edward point of view for each of the 4 book. – That would be extremely awsome. I love the book as it is from Bella’s view but from reading MIDNIGHT SUN I love it even more from Edward’s because you get so, so much more from the book. More emotion and more understanding of characters. Also you just love the Cullens even more.

    on June 8th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
  128. HI! That’s right! RoyDante—GUY! i loved the twilight saga ‘unconditionally’ and ‘irrevocably’. i’ve just finished reading ‘Braking Dawn’ and it feels weird. Every Night i’d be reading a book from from the twilight saga. And now, i feel… deprived. Like my whole world just crumbled and collapsed. I need more of Bella, Edward and Jacob. Yeah, someday i might get over it, but not right now i won’t. Augh! When is Midnight Sun gonna be released?!? CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER

i leave u with my own version of what woud have happened shortly after Edward said ‘Damn it!’ in the last few sentences Breaking Dawn

His lips ssmoldered mine in a way that I’d never experienced before. Like he’d been deprived of his own brand heroin for far too long. He was going out full force on me, trying to get the most satisfaction out of our ever lasting eternal lives.

Of course, I wouldn’t let him have all the fun. Despite knowing the fact that i was still a newborn, I thrust my lips onto his, every inch of my granite body in contact with his-which certainly did not feel cold or hard at all. Just an intense yet mild warmth radiating from both our bodies. i already felt like I was in bed lying on the cold, hard floor.

Suddenly he stopped short and stared at me with intense eyes, burning with desire. I had somehow managed-despite not being able to concentrate at first- to force the shield out of my head.

He read the thoughts in my head and immediately got undressed as we settled in to our bedroom.

    “Oh Bella”, Edward moaned………

    on June 8th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
  129. it makes me angry to know that someone would mess things up for eveybody else. i don’t blame stephenie to not want to share edwards thoughts now. sad to not know, was looking forward to it. i’m sure some others want to know edwards thoughts too. geuss we will just have to make our own assumptions. BOO HOO! COME ON STEPHENIE RECONSIDER!!

    on June 19th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
  130. June 2008 Update: In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun.

This quote was taken directly from stepheniemeyer.com

  131. Cat – The passage you quoted is from June of 2008. A year ago. This post was written in August of 2008, two months after your quote – thereby nullifying it.

  132. WHEN DOES MIDNIGHT SUN COME OUT???????????

    on July 2nd, 2009 at 2:24 pm
  133. I feel for you, however it was not your fans who did this. So why make us pay for someone who could care less. I think you need to think about all the young girls who have strated reading because of the books. Don’t make them pay just because your hurt and mad.

    on July 10th, 2009 at 10:30 am
  134. Good grief, I can’t believe all the fuss. I have read the draft at least 4 times all the way through and still can’t wait for the book to come out! I’m so hooked on the series and have bought the books and the audio download versions. She has made so much money from me already I don’t think that being titalated by a stolen copy and getting to be in on a secret will break her. As soon as it hits the stores i will own it and then I will also buy the audio version. What exactly is the problem? I think everyone will buy it and have fun comparing the original draft for changes and learn about writing books and how they change in the process. I wish her the best of luck and I don’t think this has hurt her…it’s probably helped her. I started looking for the Midnight Sun as soon as it was mentioned on interviews.

    on July 13th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
  135. Even though i am EXTREMELY dissaointed that she is not continuing Midnight Sun, i think that she has every right in the world to put Midnight Sun on hold. she wrote it and she gave it to someone she trusted, and that person let everybody read her personal writing. she put herself in Midnight Sun, and she wasn’t ready to have everybody read it. i think that person should be extremely ashamed of themselfe, they have betrayed somebody that trusted them, and now none of her fans get to enjoy Midnight Sun. and for the people who have previously commented on this, and said that its no big deal and that she’s being a whiny, bratty, cry baby, you go through what she has been going through, you be personally betrayed by someone you thought you could trust, i don’t think you would be still saying that. and for stephanie, i am extremely sorry that this has happened to her. but i hope that one day when she’s ready, she will continue Midnight Sun, so that all of her fans will be able to enjoy her amazing writing.

  136. Hey Natasha,

Can I Unsubscribe to comments left on this post? Some are just ridiculous and ranting and though I understand people’s frustrations, sheesh…just stop already. There are posts of people trying to prove you wrong, people who act like they are writing to Stephenie herself, and others who just can’t get over something they have no control over.

Now I’m ranting! :) The only thing I can seem to do is unsubscribe from your blog altogether, which I do not want to do.

Sorry to be grumpy about it. I’m just sick of it. You posted this nearly a year ago.

    on July 16th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
  137. Yes, I know! She won’t continue anytime soon and were lucky is she even continues this year, or next year for that matter.

She has a good reason to be mad, after all that was illigal. That was very nice of her to share one unique book with one of her friends, and they were dishonest.

That shows other author’s never to share unless their already done. Now, the website has already shared her book that she worked on HARD. I hope, that no one reads that. Stepheine was very disapointed.

If I were you, I wouldn’t read the Midnight Sun copy, besides, she even said there are mistakes and I’m not going too.

    on July 18th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
  138. Personally I think shes using the leak as her way to stop writing the books because she could not think of any thing else to add to the twilight books which was why she started over from edwards point of view why do you think she posted the chapters on HER WEBSITE wich is why they cant find the person who did it she is being immature and I will never read one of her books again

    on July 21st, 2009 at 10:34 am
  139. I’m so mad after reading these comments the fact that some people can support Stephenie Meyer even though she gave out the copies her self anyone would know it would get put on the internet also for the people who said they are mad because they want to know what will happen read the first book stop trying to make up reasons for her quitting right we all know she probably couldn’t come up with anything new for twilight which is probably the reason for her starting over we already know how the book will end

    on July 21st, 2009 at 12:50 pm
  140. post #59 your so stupid don’t take up for Meyer she doesn’t care about her fans that wasted money trying to by the Twilight books some people couldn’t afford it so they waited at Library’s and borrowed it from friends she doesn’t care about anything about that she’s probably mad because Stephen King said shes a bad writer so she is using the illegal distribution of DRAFTS as a way to hide that she is throwing a temper tantrum also it would be so easy for her to boost the amount of people reading her books by putting a couple of chapters on the internet so they want to keep reading

    on July 21st, 2009 at 2:00 pm
  141. Me and my friends were sitting at the computer and we all think that Meyer is just starting from Edwards point of view because she couldn’t think of anything new to write and what’s the point of writing it from Edwards POV we already know what is going to happen it’s boring breaking dawn was a good book but i wish it was longer which is why i don’t know why she would start over unless she couldn’t think of anything plus she should not have given away chapters its her fault anyone smart would have known it would happen

    on July 21st, 2009 at 2:30 pm
  142. how can she say that in her state of mind she would kill off the Cullens and Bella when Midnight Sun is practically a rewrite of twilight from Edwards Point of View that is so stupid

    on July 21st, 2009 at 7:07 pm
  143. I just found this website called Scribd.com and somebody made up there own sequel to breaking down because Meyer wouldn’t it’s kinda good better than anything she ever writes

    on July 22nd, 2009 at 1:16 am
  144. I was really gutted when i heard she wasnt gonna finish it! She really should finish it and i think she just stopped because she was bored with the twilight saga…i agree with that derick guy, on scribd.com there is a great sequel called nightfall! Stephanie should finish the book though!!!

    on July 23rd, 2009 at 11:26 am
  145. Wow it has been almost a whole year and she is still so butt hurt over the whole thing. She hasn’t worked on it at all from what I’ve seen, so it is probably safe to assume that she won’t finish it. I just started reading the series this week for the first time and I’m almost done with breaking dawn. I can understand the upset that she feels but seriously to promise something to anyone much less millions of people and then just throw it all away is a hissy fit that I feel a 3 or 4 year-old should be throwing, not an adult. I feel that her actions are very selfish and just plain mean. I know that I will never read the host or any other books she comes out with that don’t have anything to do with the twilight series.

    on August 3rd, 2009 at 1:33 am
  146. Well i have finshed all here book and sad to read that she is not wanting to work on the next book. I will not read her rough draf for it will rune the finshed coppy for me. I have not toughed a novle in over 16year and my son broght twilght home from school last yaer just after the movie was made i pick it up 3 weeks ago and never looked back. I finshed the frist book and had to go buy the rest of the books. Hope she can fined the world she has created again and move the store on. i see that she came out with a diff. book and i not sure if i well read it. i have also seen the movie and thought it was so so the book are more dialog and movies work on action so alot of the book was lost. if they mke a new one i hope they can find away to brige this gap. Thank hope Stephenie will read this or someone in her camp to help incurage her to keep up with sega.

    on August 3rd, 2009 at 2:57 am
  147. well i was already sad as i was near the end of breaking dawn and was hoping to read more and the very next day i got this great news that stephenie is continuing the twilight saga with her next novel midnight sun but it was simply disappointing and sad to know about it being leaked on net. stephinie i just want to tell ya i havent read the net thing and i am not going to read

    on August 4th, 2009 at 12:22 am
  148. i really wish sm will publish it at least after all the twilight movies are done with and over.

    on August 4th, 2009 at 5:01 am
  149. i think stephinie is right that those people should not have done that but i really hope that one day she will finish writing it and not let those stupid people take away something that everyone loved so i am asking please finish writing midnight sun.

    on August 11th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
  150. I’ve read the entire manuscript that she has published and I absolutely love the book so far, she is now saying that she plans on continueing on writing the novel but it will be quite a while before it ever gets published but I love the idea of Edwards side and I love the manuscript already and its only a few chapters. I don’t feel guilty reading it but it makes me more anxious to read the entire novel.

    on August 18th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
  151. Date of Anticipated Completion: 2010-08-24 (Approximate)
Projected Date of Publication: 2011-08-24 (Approximate)

    on October 13th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
  157. Im hoping that inconsiderate twerp that leaked midnight sun is happy with him/herself. For your actions you have ruined it for everybody else thats was waiting for the next book to comeout. I can sympathise with SM for being hurt and upset and losing faith. Its up to the author of the book to release it when they are happy with the finished book. To leak something on the net that was not yours to do so is thoroughly thoughtless and inconsiderate!!! I hope that SM can find the faith and finish Midnight Sun until that time comes i will wait paitently for the finished project!! All the books that i have read so far have been brilliant and i look forward to the next 1! Finally to the inconsideate twerp hope ya happy with yaself your thoughtlessness has ruined it for the rest of us! Hope ya can live with yaself!!

    on October 18th, 2009 at 5:42 am
  158. I love Stephenie’s books. I love Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and especially Breaking Dawn. I love the passion & love between Bella & Edward. It helps to escape the real world and problems most of face in the world so reading this helped me out a lot. I love Edward and I really wanted to see his point of view in Breaking Dawn instead of Jacob’s, I wish & hope Stephenie can finish Midnight Sun because team Edward is really waiting for it. We want it.
