Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules by Jeff Kinney

Book Cover: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Rodrick RulesI recently reviewed  Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney (read that book review here) and had so much fun with it that I knew I had to read its sequel, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Rodrick Rules.  In Rodrick Rules, Greg Heffley is returning to school after his summer vacation.  We know that something REALLY embarrassing happened to Greg over the summer as he tries to make sure his secret doesn’t get out.  In true style, Greg plays practical jokes on his friends (and he’s positive he’s a shoe in for class clown this year), writes his pen pal from France, takes drum lessons from Rodrick, gets his first overnight stay at home without his parents, learns how to play Magick and Monstors (with his mom), auditions for the talent show, and of course, hang out with his best friend Rowley.  And what about that big secret?  Yes, it does come out.

While I didn’t find laugh myself into tears like the first book, I still enjoyed this sequel and look forward to when the third  book Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw comes out in January.

  1. Oh, man. My kids ADORE this book. They say it’s better than the first, but #2 hasn’t read the first yet, so what does she know?

Of course, they might like it better because the first was a library book and we own the second… funny how that influences things, huh?
