I Just Finished Breaking Dawn! (review coming soon)

Breaking DawnI did it!  I finished Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer!  Crazy, I know.  But I did not want any of it spoiled for me by reading anything or anybody leaving me a spoiler comment.  But now I’m tired and need to sleep.  I want to write my review in the morning  but am unsure on how to write about it without spoilers.

So what would you prefer?  A review with absolutely no spoilers or hint at a story line (basically I’d say yes I liked it or no I didn’t), a second separate review with spoilers (meaning I’d write two reviews, one with spoilers, one without),  or a single review but I clearly indicate which paragraph has a spoiler so you can skip past it.  What do you think?

I’ll check back tomorrow to see what you think and I’ll decide then.   Now I can sleep well knowing how it all turned out.

Edited to add: You can now read my full review HERE.

  1. Boy am I jealous! No spoilers please I vote – I’m in the UK and have no idea what the release date is!

  2. Just one with a spoiler paragraph will do! Too much work to have to write two reviews after the marathon effort of reading the book so quickly!

  3. I don’t write a whole lot of the plot in my reviews (try not to anyway) but really focus on my thoughts. When I read other’s, if there is a long plot summary I skip it until I get down to the nitty gritty. But, if I HAVE to write spoilers (I did with Tess of the D’Urbervilles last week), then I clearly mark it. I agree with Marg that you don’t need to write two posts–if you have the spoiler clearly marked it’s people’s own fault if they choose to read it anyway!

  4. Am I the only person on the planet not reading this book? I feel so very alone.

  5. Well, I would love spoilers! I’d like to know how it all ended up as I have no intention of ever reading it. I read the first two and decided I couldn’t stand to read them any more. But since I did put the investment into those two books I’d love to know the ending and how you, as someone who likes the books, feel about it.

  6. Either way I’m just going to the end to read whether you liked it or not. After I read it I’ll go back and read the rest of your post so whatever you decide is ok with me. I’ll just close my eyes over the spoiler bits. lol.

  8. I can’t wait for your review. I want to know what other people thought of it. Sorry to the people who don’t want spoilers but I think you should put them in but post a warning before. That way you can tell us what you liked and didn’t and then we can comment on what happened as well.

  9. I’m in the middle of Breaking Dawn right now and would prefer not to see spoilers. I might have a good solution for you to be able to write only one review: I use a HTML code to make spoiler text blacked out on my book review blog. To read it, the text needs to be highlighted by the reader, and it works on the site, in feed readers, etc. If you’d like the code, please email me and let me know. Thanks.

  13. I finished the book last night and just posted a review. (http://thebluestockings.com/2008/08/breaking-dawn/) I kind of went the middle route. I kept the plot summary short and towards the beginning. I also contained a little discussion section with spoilers, clearly marked as such.

  14. I think you should do a spoiler free for now, and maybe in a month or so do a spoiler edition to give time for people to read it. I am finished as well so I don’t mind. However I know if I hadn’t finished yet I wouldn’t want to be spoiled yet. Or at least let people know that there are spoilers so they won’t read what they don’t want to see. :)

  17. Thanks to your comments, I now have a much clearer idea of how I’m going to write this review. Because if you think about it, this is going to be a hard one. And to tell you the truth, I’m still not 100% sure how I think about it. Thanks to Mo, I think I’ll be trying out this nifty little code. On to write it up.

  21. No , please no spoilers! Congratulations , i too have recently finished Breaking Dawn , however , i am depressed as i don’t have anymore new books from Twilight to obsess over , or anymore Bella to worry over… :-( I hope she comes up with a new series just as great as Twilight was

    Thanks

  22. I am very sad, I’ve now finished Breaking Dawn. It seems that I can’t stop thinking about the Twilight Saga, and no other book is appealing, because I don’t have a Bella, or Edward, or Jacob, or any of the other Cullen’s. I even miss Charlie!
I don’t know if I am the only one who feels like this, completely lost.
    Hm.
But I’m looking forward to reading the review!
