Fun With Keywords – July’s Edition
Oh, I’m trying so hard to cut these posts down! You would not believe how many I deleted, about half of what I originally picked out. So hard when I had about 7,000 different keyword queries used to whittle it down to just a few for your reading pleasure.
My traffic coming from keywords alone this month was huge, mainly due to the fact that at least 500 visitors a day were looking for the first chapter of Breaking Dawn (I’ve only got 200 more pages to go and then I’ll be done!). This has been my most viewed post for weeks now. But I think since it is now in bookstores, I can pretty much say that nobody will be looking for it anymore . The traffic spike was nice even though I’m sure nobody was happy to find after they clicked through that they actually couldn’t read the first chapter on this site. I did have somebody copy and paste the entire first chapter into my comments and I swear, less then 24 hours later, the publisher was already notifying me of violation of copyright. They are fast!
Anyways . . . here are some of the keywords/search queries that brought people to the Maw Books blog during the month of July.

Ha ha! The random ones are the funniest!
on August 2nd, 2008 at 7:49 pmwas actually reading my stats and then read this post…funniest key word to find my site: is farting a sign of happiness in some cultures? and baby dance leotards…funny!
on August 2nd, 2008 at 8:22 pmhow can i stop my 2 year old from taking her diaper off and smearing poop on her crib?
Duct tape.
on August 2nd, 2008 at 9:08 pmNot truly a July keyword as it spans the last few days, but I’m getting a lot of searches for ‘The Tales of Beedle the Bart‘ at the moment, it should, of course, be ‘Beedle the Bard but considering my online id and website name, it’s making me smile…
on August 3rd, 2008 at 2:22 amI need to start doing this! I don’t have the traffic that you do, but I know there are people reading my blog without me knowing it. The other day I got a blog award from someone who has never commented on my posts and that I didn’t even know existed–kind of weird in a way! Prostitute pooping? Now what on your blog would make Maw Books come up in a search like that, missy!! Yikes!!
on August 3rd, 2008 at 8:00 am>>in fearless fourteen is morelli really mario’s dad? I don’t know, I’ve never read it. Anybody know?
SPOILER
no
END
>>is the book the thief lord easy to read I haven’t read it. It’s young adult isn’t it?
From what I remember, yes. It’s been several years though. Funke’s other books were translated better.
>>what happen to win-dixie the grocery store Winn-Dixie is running around the produce department and the manager is really upset about it and is about to call the pound, but Pearl rescues him and takes him home. Read my book review.
If they’re talking about the actual Winn-Dixie grocery stores, they went bankrupt.
>>what do adults think about the book the little prince I’m an adult and this is what I think here. Although, I’m sure we adults all think differently about it.
I’m still a pretty young adult but I hated it as a kid.
on August 3rd, 2008 at 8:29 amJeane – I know!
Janelle – Okay, you totally got me beat. I seriously was laughing really hard on that farting one.
Nicki – Good one!
Bart – You’ll have to capitalize on that one and make sure you read and review it as well!
Trish – I just had a lurker comment for the first time as well. They’re out there. As for the questionable keyword, I had a school teacher ask me in my Water for Elephants post exactly what the sex content was like. I mentioned that there was a prostitute. On a completely different post, I reviewed a parenting book and somebody mentioned pooping in the comments. So there you go! But seriously, isn’t that the strangest search query? And really scary.
Liviania – Thanks for those answers! I love seeing what people are searching for and seeing if I can figure out the answer for them. I didn’t care much for The Little Prince either. Glad it’s not just me!
on August 3rd, 2008 at 11:45 pmLol I always love these, thanks for sharing
