Join In On the Bookworms Carnival
Make sure you head on over to Nymeth’s blog at Things Mean a Lot for the 12th Edition of The Bookworms Carnival. This month’s feature is fairy tales and there’s a large compilation of some great postings about all things fairy tales. And find out how you can enter for a book of your choice from any featured in the carnival.
My contributed post to this months carnival is my book review on The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy. The True Story of Hansel and Gretel is a retelling of the classic tale but set in Poland during the Holocaust. I asked readers does setting a fairy tale into the Holocaust contrive the facts and is it appropriate? Follow the link above to join in on the discussion.
For more fairy tale fun, I’ve also reviewed the following fairy tale books on this blog:
- Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale
- Zel by Donna Jo Napoli
- Briar Rose by Jane Yolen
- Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
And many thanks on a job well done to Nymeth for being a spectacular host. To learn more on past and future carnivals visit the Bookworms Carnival page over at The Hidden Side of a Leaf.
Hey you! Yes. You! I've noticed that you've stopped by to visit a few times! But I don't know who you are. Why don't you take a moment and introduce yourself. Don't be scared. I try not to bite. I know you're a lurker but I'd love to hear your thoughts about what's been bringing you here. And if you haven't done so already, don't forget to never miss a post by subscribing to my feed or receiving updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

Fun! I just picked up Shannon Hale’s Goose Girl yesterday so I think that fits the bill.
I actually stopped by your blog today because I picked up Running with Scissors yesterday ($1 at DI, woohoo!). I had heard of it but didn’t know anything about it so I wanted to see if you’d reviewed it. I just noticed it’s on your “Reading Soon” list so maybe we’ll be reading it at the same time.
on June 18th, 2008 at 10:42 amRebecca – I have Goose Girl as well, I bought it when I went to her book signing last month and have added it to my ever increasing TBR.
I’ve been trying to get to Running With Scissors forever. I think I started and read the first three chapters before I got overwhelmed with other books. From some of the reviews, I’ve read it’s quite graphic with the language and sex, so I’ll guess we’ll find out.

Thank you for participating!
