There are two more books that definitely belong on this list of books on Darfur:

GENOCIDE IN DARFUR: INVESTIGATING ATROCITIES IN THE SUDAN edited by Samuel Totten and Eric Markusen. New York: Routledge, 2006.

THE WORLD AND DARFUR: INTERNATIONAL RESPONSE TO CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY IN WESTERN SUDAN edite by Amanda F. Grzyb. Montreal: McGill-Queen's University Press.

I finished reading The Devil Came on Horseback. I had intended to read the Don Cheadle book but I don't think I can squeeze it in and since the availability of Darfur resources is somewhat limited for me, I also watched the Vice Magazine video series.

My copy of Tears of the Desert came today and it was a LibraryThing Early Reviewer book, so I will DEFINITELY be reviewing it this month. In fact, I think I'm going to start it tonight so I can have it reviewed by Tuesday when it is released. It can keep the other two books I'm reading company.

I just watched the documentary on Vibe. That was interesting. I thought that Darfur's genocide was close to what Rwanda went through with their tribal war. I read 'Left to Tell' by Immaculee Ilibagiza.

I was kind of surprised that the root of the problem is over oil. It seems like they--the government or oil companies--do a pretty good job of keeping their true motives a secret. I felt pretty sad over all the trash in the streets and the kids addicted to glue. I was also pretty nervous that those guys would go to jail, but pretty lucky that they escaped.

[...] Darfur book and video recommendations Don’t forget for each video or book you read, I’ll donate 50 cents to an organization that makes a difference for Darfurians. If you have a blog and you review that book or video I’ll donate 50 cents more. Think of it as a mini-challenge. Plus, one of the points is to have you learn something and to share that with your friends, family and blog readers. All of these are also listed in my Amazon store.
What a great list. I read The Translator earlier this year and thought that it was an amazing read. I look forward to reading your thoughts on the other books on this list.

I have the Don Cheadle book...now might be a good time to read it.
