  1. Looks like a great list. You’ve been busy! And, yes, I am interested in some of them. :)

  2. Great list! I’ve read a bunch of those, but a few others I haven’t–Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie, Three Junes by Julia Glass and
The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant are three of them.

  3. Great list, I’ve always meant to read The Kitchen God’s Wife.

  4. There are some fantastic books on there, I’d love to win some of them! I’ve been meaning to read some Isabelle Allende and keep hearing Map of the World mentioned lately.

  5. I’ve got my eyes on two that have been on my to-read list forever, but I still haven’t gotten around to: Memoirs of a Geisha and My Antonia. Great list of books – you’re very generous.

  6. Wow, Natasha – there are quite a few WONDERFUL books in that pile. I see at least two I’d love to read :)

  7. Oooh a bunch of good ones that I don’t have… Wow it would be hard to choose only two if I won :)

  8. Wow, what a great list Natasha! I have Gap Creek sitting my shelf but have no idea what it’s about…any good?

  9. Great list Natasha! I know for sure that I’ve been wanting to read Middlesex for ages but for some reason it’s one that I just keep passing by. I’m going to get to it eventually though!

  10. This is a very impressive list of books and I’m sad to say I haven’t read alot of them.

  11. Thanks everybody for your kind comments!

SmallWorld – Is Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie any good. I hadn’t heard of it but it looked wonderful, my type of reading. I snagged two from my recent library book sale excursion. One for me, one for the giveaway.

Trish – I read Gap Creek a few years ago and remember liking it. Enough so that I bought a hardback and so now have this paperback one to give away. I couldn’t tell you what it was about though. Sometimes, it’s in one ear and out the other, especially with books I read quite some time ago.

Do you ever find yourself halfway through a book only to realize that you’ve read it before but you still can’t remember how it ends? I have found that since I started blogging that I am retaining more and more of the information that I read. Perhaps it’s the act of having to think about it a bit more and write it down.

  12. I kind of stumbled across your blog by accident. I’m a huge sucker for things book-related, so finding you was a treat. There are some great books in your list, as well as some that I’ve heard good things about.

  13. Were you kind enough to forward me your response? ;) A lot of times I check back to see the responses, but sometimes I forget…

I haven’t read anything without remembering whether I’ve already done so. I keep a pretty detailed list of my books and which ones I’ve read. I do have a very difficult time remembering plots and characters names for books that I’ve read. Even books that I’ve read recently!! It has gotten better since blogging (which is part of the reason why I write my thoughts down). Kind of embarrassing actually. I couldn’t tell you the lead character’s name in Water for Elephants and I read it maybe 2 months ago…

  14. Okay, I had to rack my brains for a really long time. It’s Jacob. I remember because Sara Gruen has said that the story parallels to the story of Jacob in the Bible. Just don’t ask me how because I’ve no idea. I don’t remember the girl’s name though.

  15. Katherine – Thanks for stopping by! I’ve added your blog to my reader and I’m looking forward to getting to know you better.

  20. I know I commented before on this but just wanted to add about reading books AGAIN and not remembering how they ended – that’s why I started keeping track of what I have read, lol!

  21. I found your site through A Reader’s Journal and thought I would leave a comment. From the looks of the list in this post, we have very similar reading tastes. There were only two that I hadn’t read! So, please enter me into your contest and stop by and visit my site if you have time. If I were lucky enough to win, I would love to have A Fine Balance and The Kitchen God’s Wife. I love finding new book lovers with which to share suggestions. Congratulations on your 100th post!

For some reason, Askimet Spam is giving me a lot of false positives. Even to those who have left me many comments before. So if you leave a comment, hit submit, and it seems to go the way of the wind, don't resubmit it. I'll catch it and publish it. Also, if you leave 2 or more links in your comment, it automatically goes into moderation. I'll catch that too.

I love and invite your comments. I thrive on them. But by posting a comment, you agree to not post off topic, defamatory, obscene, abusive, or use language that is not family friendly.
