I use the one linked below. I’ve used it mostly on late night car trips. It works fairly well once you get it situated in a good spot. I love the flexible neck, it’s bright enough, and it lasts FOREVER on one AAA battery.

I’ve used the “Itty Bitty Book Light” - I found it quite good. I ended up giving it to my mother but only because I’m not so much of a book light person.
She really likes it and still uses it, and her eyesight is not all that good.

I love my bookwedge and think it gives off great light (it is also made with LEDs so they are efficient and will last a long time). They are more cumbersome than a hands-free light, but I’ve learned to adjust. I’d try and sample one in-store (with a book) first just to see if it is something you could get used to.

I disagree with Stella only because I HAVE read a book by the light of my cellphone (desperate times…), but it certainly does not replace the power of a nightstand lamp.

I have had really good luck with the Mighty Brite at Border’s. I did try the lite wedge and would DEFINITELY warn against it. One of the worst I’ve had simply because of the no-hands-free problem. Also, the wedge is good if you have the exact same size book, but otherwise you have to move it around the page to see all the words! Good luck finding one!

Thanks Stella. I’ve been curious about this one but didn’t want to buy it unless I thought it was worth it. Doesn’t sound like it. Sometimes we have the baby in our room with us, so I don’t use a lamp when he is. I enjoy using a book light, just need to find a new one.

I wouldn’t advise it. It’s like trying to read a book by light of your cellphone. Is a little lamp on the nightstand out of the question?
