I sort of have goals like those. But I started a Pulitzer winner (can’t remember which) a couple of years ago and I really didn’t like it: I couldn’t bring myself to read it. I’ll give them 50 pages, but if I can’t stand I’m not going to read it. There’s too much out there to spend my reading time on a book I really don’t like. Awards are given by committees and individuals. Just because those people liked it doesn’t mean that I will.

Booklogged: I’ve been selfhosting on wordpress and I thought I’d try blogger since so many people use it. I couldn’t stand how few options there are! Self-hosting gives so many options (but a lot of headaches, too…)

I set goals each year, but don’t have lifelong goals. This year I want to read 60 books, read at least 5 off a list I made of Big Books, 1 Russian novel, more my men, more non-fiction, continue blogging.

I had thought I wanted to read all the Newberys but I started with The Westing Game and just hated it, so didn’t really follow through.

Erin – I think I created too many goals but I’m not stressing. That’s why I called them “life long goals.” No time limit! Yay!

Wow, what a list! Some of my goals include reading the 1001 books to read before you die, review books that I have read and keep a journal of them (thank you Library Thing!) and read the Pulitzer Prize Winners. This year I have read a lot of historical fiction and am going to try a new genre, Science Fiction for a book review and blog tour. My goal this year was to read 50 books and I am already at 25 so it looks like I will exceed that.

Booklogged – I know, I’m crazy, crazy! Always giving myself something to do.

Thanks for commenting on the look of my blog. I’ve only been blogging since November and didn’t know much about it beforehand, so I’ve learned a lot. I wanted this blog to have the same look as my main website where I have collected book lists, book club resources, children’s nursery rhymes, etc. That site was up only a month before I started blogging and I have still have tons of content to add to it.

I like simple, clean lines and this blog is definitely that! Content above all else. I’m happy with it!

Wow – some very worthy goals. It is a good thing you have your life ahead of you. My reading goals are to finish the kazillion challenges I’ve signed up for in 2008.

I love the look of your blog. It makes me want to move from Blogger to Wordpress.

Natasha,
This is fun seeing what other book lovers do. I’m glad to have found your blog. You are an inspiration to all of us that want to read more.

I’d have to say I only have one reading goal right now and that is to find more time to read. I have two jobs that take up six days out of my week. Luckily I’ve found BookWise and am planning on firing one of my bosses in April of this year and the other one in January of 2009.

So I guess you could say I will be able to do new reading goals starting in May 2008.

Hi, Natasha!

Life-long reading goals? Only about a million! I think that’s why I’ve suddenly latched on to this whole blog/reading challenge business. You’ve got some great goals! Some of mine include:

Read the whole “1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die” list for no reason other than it seems interesting

Read all of Agatha Christie’s mysteries

Read all the Pulitzer Prize winners for fiction (Except “The Yearling”. I can’t go there.)

Read more fiction from other countries (especially attracted to fiction from India for some reason)

I could go on and on. I’ll be keeping track of all my projects/challenges on my blog. Feel free to come check up on me!
