Two Months & Counting - What You Can Expect from this Blog

Today marks two months since my very first post! I can’t believe it how fast time has flown by! I have learned so much the past two months.

Before creating this blog, I had no idea what I was doing. I had never heard the words: wordpress, sidebar, widget, plug-in, etc. This blog has been a true labor of love. I learned how to use wordpress, found a theme, and then having no idea what I was doing, found that changing the colors took a good three days for me to do. And then having absolutely NO experience in html, managed to change my library plugin to actually fit my template and do the things that I wanted it to do! It took hours and hours to do small simple things.

Thank goodness, I didn’t do it all alone, many thanks to my sister Leisa, I never could have done any of this without her and also owing to the fact that I’m a fast learner. We stayed up till 2:00 in the morning the other day, trying to fix a template and couldn’t do it. Next day, I manage to somehow do what we trying to do for hours in just 30 minutes. Looks like a little sleep goes a long way!

MeDuring this same time, I was putting together my home page! Am I crazy? I had no clue how to put up a website. If you had asked me two months ago how to put one single word on a web page, I would have told you I had no idea. I finally have it up and going, with tons and tons of content to add. So keep checking back to see what’s new. Again, it took me days to do a simple change that I’m sure somebody who knew what they were doing could do in 5 minutes. But, I’ve been learning! I now know more than I did two months ago, and somehow during the same time we had Thanksgiving, Christmas, out of town guests, a huge service project, and my littlest one started crawling! I feel like it’s one big balancing act!

Anyways, what am I trying to say? Thank you so much for visiting and I hope that you visit often (don’t miss anything by subscribing to my feed). I can promise you that I’m only going to get better. So what do I want this blog to be? What do I hope to accomplish? What can you expect from me?

BooksWell, I love to read! I always have. First, and foremost, this blog is about books! Books I’m reading, books I love, books my kids love, books I hope to read. I’ll review what I enjoy and some I didn’t. I’ll give you great recommendations and book lists and some challenges along the way! I mostly read fiction, both contemporary and classic, I always have one parenting book in progress, and I enjoy photography and gardening books (read my bio and you’ll understand why). I am always open to new books, which is why I participate in my neighborhood book club plus a couple online ones as well.

I’m a stay at home mom of two small boys, aged two years and 8 months, so you’ll get some great children’s reviews and recommendations. I hope to start a series of posts that I’ll call Children’s Literacy Tips among the myriad of all my other ideas. And I’ll share some of the crazy moments of my life (wait, stop . . . have to rescue the baby who’s stuck under the computer desk!) as they relate to books and reading.

I have a huge list of topics and books I want to cover. If you have something that you want to see, just drop a comment. Tell me what you want! Seriously.

Bookstore

This blog is also associated with my online bookstore, which I run as an independent associate of BookWise. I get to have all the fun, read books, talk about books, blog about books, and BookWise does all my back end office work for me in regards to my bookstore. You shop, you buy, they handle all the logistics, money, package and ship your product for me quickly and effeciently (fulfillment house through Baker and Taylor, the world’s largest distributor of entertainment) and I get to concentrate all my efforts on making sure you’re having a great time! I’d love for you stop by the bookstore and browse a while, don’t forget to register to qualify for a contest I’m holding until the end of January. I’ll always have important bookstore information on my bookstore page.

Well, I’m having fun and I hope you are too. I hope to hear from you often, don’t be shy. Feel free to always leave comments and share your opinions!

Until next time . . . now I must write my post for The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, watch for it soon!
